Orly en Fête — Street Arts Festival at Parc Méliès
Every early June, the town of Orly transforms its Parc Méliès into a vast open-air theater to host Orly en Fête, one of the most popular street arts festivals in the Val-de-Marne. For an entire weekend, circus artists, street performers, musicians, acrobats, and performers of all disciplines take over the park's paths, lawns, and stages to offer a spectacular and family-friendly program.
Orly en Fête is much more than just a community celebration: it is a true open-air artistic festival, recognized within the national network of street arts festivals, attracting companies of regional and national renown. This artistic ambition, combined with completely free admission, makes it an exceptional event that democratizes access to professional-quality performances.
Parc Méliès, named after the pioneering filmmaker Georges Méliès, is an ideal natural setting for live performances. Its vast lawns, shaded paths, and various areas allow for the installation of several simultaneous performance spaces, creating an artistic stroll where the public discovers varied and surprising shows as they wander.
The festival's program is deliberately eclectic: street theater, circus arts (juggling, acrobatics, tightrope walking), outdoor music, visual performances, and digital arts follow one another on different stages and as roving performances throughout the park. Giant ducks wander through the park's paths, holding surprises for visitors, creating an atmosphere of magic and wonder particularly appreciated by children.
Orly en Fête pays special attention to families with a dedicated children's area offering games, creative workshops, and activities specifically designed to introduce the youngest to the world of street arts in all its forms. Professional animators supervise these artistic awakening workshops, allowing children to discover circus, theater, and music through practice.
To eat and extend the magic of the festival, an ephemeral guinguette offers local specialties and drinks in a festive and warm atmosphere. Local producers and restaurateurs from the town participate in this gastronomic space, which highlights the flavors of the region while creating a meeting and exchange point for residents.
The Orly en Fête festival concludes each year with a spectacular pyrotechnic show titled Fuego. This explosive finale combines fireworks, music, and light to offer an unforgettable last show that concludes the weekend with a visual and auditory theatrical flourish. Hundreds of spectators gathered on the lawns of Parc Méliès witness this grandiose spectacle that will remain in memory.
