The great popular festival of Bonneval-sur-le-Loir
Every year in June, the charming medieval town of Bonneval, nicknamed "the little Venice of Beauce" for its canals and washhouses, hosts the Fête du Bonnevalais, a great popular day that enlivens the town center of this commune in Eure-et-Loir bordered by the Loir river. This unifying event brings together residents and visitors for a day of conviviality, music, and local traditions.
The band Les Cuivres dans le Vent accompanies the festivities throughout the day, offering songs and dances to liven up the streets and squares of the town center. The musical atmosphere is joyful and participatory, inviting everyone to sing and dance to the rhythm of the brass instruments. Street entertainment, balloon sculptures, and games are offered for the enjoyment of children and families, creating a popular fair atmosphere.
The Fête du Bonnevalais also offers outdoor activities for nature and sports enthusiasts. A 10-kilometer hike, intended for experienced walkers, starts from the Capitainerie at 10 am to explore the paths around Bonneval. The Cyclo Club Bonnevalais organizes a 17-kilometer cycling trip, accessible to all, which allows participants to discover the Beauce countryside. These activities complement the festive program and highlight the exceptional natural setting of the Loir valley.
The official inauguration of the festival takes place at noon at the Capitainerie, with speeches by president Joël Billard and elected officials. The grand raffle of the lottery, organized at 5 pm at the Bonnevalais Tourist Office, is the highlight of the day. Wellness workshops — 20-minute treatment sessions, introduction to Bach Flower Remedies — are offered on the Place de la Grève, adding an original touch to this popular festival. The day is free and open to all.
The setting of the festival adds to its charm: the medieval streets, the canals, the washhouses, and the ramparts of Bonneval offer a picturesque and authentic backdrop. Classified among the "petites cités de caractère" (small towns of character), Bonneval attracts thousands of visitors each year to discover its architectural and natural heritage. The Fête du Bonnevalais is the ideal opportunity to (re)discover this pearl of Beauce in a warm and festive atmosphere.
The Fête du Bonnevalais returns on Saturday, June 20th, 2026, to the town center of Bonneval for another festive and free popular day. Concerts, street entertainment, games, a hike, a cycling trip, and a grand raffle will be on the agenda.
The Fête du Bonnevalais takes place in the town center of Bonneval, 28800 Bonneval.
