Lake Rabodanges: Jewel of Suisse Normande
Created in 1960 by the construction of a hydroelectric dam on the Orne river, Lake Rabodanges covers nearly 100 hectares in the heart of Suisse Normande. Its calm waters and wooded shores make it an ideal spot for supervised swimming, water sports, and fishing. The lake is surrounded by hiking trails offering superb viewpoints of the surrounding hills and the meanders of the Orne.
Every summer for several years, the municipality of Putanges-le-Lac has organized a large popular festival on its banks to celebrate this exceptional natural heritage.
A Program Rich in Water Activities
The Fête du Lac offers a wide range of water activities, taking advantage of the site's facilities:
- Supervised swimming in the designated area of the lake
- Electric boat rentals for peaceful rides
- Canoeing and paddleboarding, free access or supervised
- Water skiing and gliding sports demonstrations
- Fishing introduction for children and beginners
Land-based activities are also plentiful: pony and carriage rides, guided hikes, wooden games, giant board games, creative workshops for children, dance demonstrations, outdoor yoga sessions, and fire department entertainment delight both young and old.
Producers' Market and Musical Entertainment
From 11 am, a producers and artisans market is set up by the lake, offering Norman regional specialties: cheeses, ciders, cured meats, honey, jams, and artisanal creations. Visitors can enjoy food and drinks on-site throughout the day.
Musical entertainment punctuates the afternoon, with concerts and dance demonstrations animating the lake shores in a festive and relaxed atmosphere.
Fireworks: The Climax of the Show
The highlight of the day is the grand musical fireworks display launched from the lake at dusk. The rockets reflect in the calm waters of the lake, creating a doubly magical spectacle that enchants the thousands of spectators gathered on the shores. This magical moment beautifully concludes a day full of discoveries and emotions.
