About Fête Paysanne
Fête Paysanne — edition 2026
The 41st Fête Paysanne takes over the Chêne Pilé farm in Saint-Laurent-de-Lin on Saturday, August 1st and Sunday, August 2nd, 2026. Enjoy two days of traditional threshing, old-time trades, and working draft horses, alongside a flea market and hikes on Saturday, the play "Drôle de viager" in the evening, a grand parade of agricultural machinery on Sunday morning, the "Les Gitans du Rajasthan" show in the afternoon, and a fireworks display at 11:30 PM to wrap things up.
A 41st edition on August 1st and 2nd, 2026
The Traditions et Loisirs association is opening the doors of the Chêne Pilé farm, located 4 km from Château-la-Vallière towards Bourgueil, for the 41st Fête Paysanne. For two days, the farm transforms back into a Touraine village from the early 20th century: volunteers in period costumes, steam engines in action, working animals, and artisans demonstrating their crafts to the public.
Saturday, August 1st: flea market, hikes, and theater
Admission is free all day Saturday. Starting at 7:00 AM, the flea market and garage sale will be set up on-site, alongside stalls featuring regional products and sweets. Two hiking trails of 5 or 8 km depart at 9:30 AM and 10:30 AM, for a fee of 4 €.
The day continues with refreshment bars and fast food, followed by a grill lunch served from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. At 7:00 PM, the country dinner (19 €) brings visitors together under a marquee, with line dancing demonstrations by Lathan Dance at 8:00 PM and 9:00 PM. The evening concludes at 10:00 PM with the comedy "Drôle de viager," performed by the association's volunteers and the youth rural troupe from Channay-sur-Lathan (8 €).
Sunday, August 2nd: the big threshing day
Sunday is the highlight of the festival, with admission at 7 € for those over 12. The site opens at 9:30 AM with an exhibition of vintage tractors and engines, field work performed by horses and classic tractors, and a recreation of farm life in 1900.
At 10:30 AM, the grand parade brings together farmers, animals, and agricultural equipment across the site. The afternoon is packed with demonstrations: traditional wood sawing at 2:00 PM and 5:30 PM, cartwheel shoeing at 4:45 PM, steam-powered threshing, and old-time trades—wheelwright, blacksmith, carpenter, clog maker, wood turner, ropemaker, wool spinner, and lace maker. The music and dance show "Les Gitans du Rajasthan" will be performed at 2:30 PM and 4:00 PM.
At 6:30 PM, the harvester parade precedes the raffle draw, where the grand prize is a tractor (2 € per ticket). The evening continues from 8:00 PM with a bone-in ham dinner (22 €), featuring music by the Accordéon Club, before the grand fireworks display at 11:30 PM.

A Living Museum of Rural Life of Yesteryear
For over forty years, the Fête Paysanne of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin has been preserving the memory of the agricultural and artisanal traditions of rural Touraine. Organized by the association Traditions et Loisirs, this event transforms the Chêne Pilé farm, located 4 km from Château-la-Vallière towards Bourgueil, into a true village of yesteryear every first weekend of August, where time seems to have stopped at the beginning of the 20th century.
Demonstrations and Ancestral Know-How
The heart of the Fête Paysanne lies in the demonstrations of old machinery and crafts. Visitors can witness the operation of vintage tractors, old engines, and collector vehicles, but especially the spectacular threshing with a steam engine, this steam machine that animated the countryside in the era of great harvests. Artisans in period costumes present their traditional know-how: the carpenter, the blacksmith, the clog maker, the wood turner, the rope maker, the wool spinner, and the lacemaker shape everyday peasant objects before the public's eyes. Oxen and donkey teams at work complete this immersion into the agricultural life of yesteryear.
A Festive Weekend for the Whole Family
Saturday is dedicated to a large flea market open from 7 am with free admission, accompanied by hiking trails of 5 or 8 kilometers starting at 9:30 am. Saturday evening features a convivial pot-au-feu followed by musical entertainment and a final fireworks display. A sound and light show also enchants visitors. On Sunday, the farm gates open for a full day dedicated to exhibitions and demonstrations of old agricultural equipment, with the presentation of local Touraine products.
Living Heritage Rooted in the Territory
The Fête Paysanne of Saint-Laurent-de-Lin is part of a movement to preserve the rural heritage of Northern Touraine. The association Traditions et Loisirs, driven by passionate volunteers, works to pass on to new generations the richness of the gestures and crafts that have shaped our countryside. The event attracts thousands of visitors each year from all over the Centre-Val de Loire region, seduced by the authenticity of the re-enactments and the warmth of the Touraine welcome.
