The great gathering of traditional sailboats at the Rosmeur port
The Fêtes Maritimes de Douarnenez, known as Temps Fête, are a must-see event for Breton maritime heritage. Organized every two years since 1986 by the Fêtes Maritimes de Douarnenez association, they bring together several hundred traditional sailboats at the Rosmeur port. Four days of festivities combining sailings, concerts, shows, exhibitions, and port conviviality in the unique atmosphere of this fishing port in southern Finistère.
Every two years, the Rosmeur port in Douarnenez hosts one of the largest gatherings of traditional sailboats in France: the Fêtes Maritimes de Douarnenez, better known as Temps Fête. For four days, several hundred heritage sailboats from all along the Atlantic coast and beyond converge on this legendary port in southern Finistère, creating a unique maritime spectacle.
In July 1986, Douarnenez hosted France's first national heritage boat gathering. Douarnenez 86 was a resounding success: nearly 400 sailboats from all over France, as well as Northern Europe and Great Britain, converged on this port, which for four days vibrated to the rhythm of sea shanties, sailboat maneuvers, and impromptu encounters on the quays. To ensure this adventure continued, the Fêtes Maritimes de Douarnenez association was created.
Each edition offers an exceptional maritime program: sailboat parades in Douarnenez bay, sea trips aboard traditional boats, knot-tying, and naval carpentry workshops. The cultural and artistic program complements the offerings with concerts on the quays, fest-noz, street performances, photographic exhibitions, and conferences on maritime heritage. Food stalls on the quays, crêperies, and oyster bars contribute to the festive and friendly atmosphere.
The 2026 edition will mark the 40th anniversary of the Fêtes Maritimes de Douarnenez, a special event that promises to be particularly festive. From July 23rd to 26th, the Rosmeur port will host an exceptional maritime, cultural, and artistic program to celebrate four decades of maritime passion and port conviviality.
