Chamber music festival in the heart of the Aubrac plateau in Aveyron
Since 2016, the Fêtes Musicales de l'Aubrac have brought together musicians and music lovers every August for a week of chamber music in an exceptional natural setting. Created by the Association Culturelle de l'Argence (ACLA), a non-profit association recognized for its cultural interest founded in 1998, the festival has established itself as a major artistic and cultural event in northern Aveyron.
The concerts take place in iconic and intimate venues on the Aubrac plateau, highlighting the natural acoustics of the heritage buildings: the churches of Saint-Chély-d'Aubrac, Brénac, Cassuéjouls, and Vines, the Domérie d'Aubrac, a former monastic hospital from the 12th century, and the Mels barn in Argences-en-Aubrac. These heritage sites offer a unique setting for chamber music, creating a rare intimacy between artists and the audience.
Under the artistic direction of Anne Le Bozec and Alain Meunier, the program combines renowned artists and emerging talents in a repertoire ranging from baroque music to contemporary creations. Five to six chamber music concerts are offered during the week, complemented by the "Impromptus", spontaneous musical encounters that weave links between music and local culture, offering privileged moments of sharing.
The festival celebrates the alliance of chamber music and Aveyronnais heritage. The Aubrac plateau, a classified Regional Natural Park, offers a magnificent natural setting of moors, meadows, and forests, which enriches the musical experience with a unique contemplative dimension. The event contributes to the cultural influence of this rural territory and attracts a loyal audience of music lovers.
The 11th edition of the Fêtes Musicales de l'Aubrac will be held from August 3 to 8, 2026, on the theme "Music in Motion". A week of chamber music performed in the emblematic churches, chapels, and barns of the Aubrac plateau, in northern Aveyron.
