Celebration of cheeses from the Aure and Louron valleys
The Foire au Fromage d'Arreau celebrates the ancestral know-how of shepherds and producers from the Aure and Louron valleys. Sheep, cow, and mixed cheeses produced in mountain pastures or on farms are at the heart of this event, which promotes mountain pastoralism and Pyrenean cheese-making traditions.
Arreau, located at the confluence of the Nests d'Aure and Louron, is a picturesque village with half-timbered houses, listed among the Most Beautiful Detours in France. Its Thursday market, particularly lively in summer, is renowned for the quality of its local products. The cheese fair is part of this centuries-old tradition of fairs and markets that has made Arreau famous.
The market brings together local producers of sheep cheese, Tomme des Pyrénées, cow and goat cheeses, as well as other regional specialties (honey, cured meats, jams). Pastoral animations complete the program: cheese-making demonstrations, presentation of local breeds, and discovery of mountain professions.
Meet in October 2026 in Arreau for the Cheese Fair, a celebration of cheese-making know-how from the Aure and Louron valleys. Local producers, tastings, and animations in the heart of the village.
Arreau is located south of the Hautes-Pyrénées, at the confluence of the Aure and Louron valleys.
