The folk and trad meeting point of Corbie
Since 2018, the Folk'n Trad festival has transformed the peaceful Picardy town of Corbie into a major hub for folk and traditional music every year. Supported by the association Peut qu'Manquer, a collective of passionate musicians and dancers, this event has established itself as a must-attend gathering for lovers of folk dances, trad music, and popular dances in the Hauts-de-France region.
The festival unfolds over two days at the Théâtre des Docks and its surroundings, offering a rich and varied program. On the agenda: concerts by renowned folk and trad bands on the national scene, folk dances open to all, traditional dance initiation workshops, and moments of musical conviviality at the festival campsite.
Folk'n Trad's philosophy is based on sharing and transmission. The dance workshops, free and accessible from the afternoon onwards, allow beginners to learn the steps of bourrée, scottish, mazurka, or circle circassien before hitting the dance floor for the evening ball. Experienced musicians gather for improvised sessions, creating a unique atmosphere where music flows freely.
Each edition features renowned groups from the French folk and trad scene. From acoustic trios to large festive ensembles, styles cross and respond to each other: Breton, Occitan, Scandinavian, Balkan, or Picard music, the festival dialogues with traditions in a spirit of openness and curiosity. The Saturday evening dances, the true highlights of the weekend, bring together several hundred dancers in a communicative energy.
Folk'n Trad is integrated into the cultural life of Corbie and the Val de Somme. The festival benefits from the support of the municipality and the community of communes, and contributes to the cultural influence of this region rich in heritage. The Abbey Church of Corbie, a majestic architectural gem of the town, serves as a grand setting for certain musical performances, adding a heritage dimension to the event.
The Folk'n Trad festival will once again take over the Théâtre des Docks in Corbie on May 23rd and 24th, 2026. This edition will feature artists from the French folk and trad scene, including Remi Geffroy and Kendirvi, for a weekend of concerts, dances, and workshops.
As every year, the afternoons will be dedicated to free folk dance initiation workshops, open to all, before the grand evening dances. The festival campsite will allow for a full folk experience.
