Fest-noz in the main courtyard of the Château de Kerjean in Saint-Vougay
Every summer, the Château de Kerjean, a jewel of the Breton Renaissance located in Saint-Vougay, opens the doors of its main courtyard to host the Grand Fest-Noz. Since 2012, this event has become a must-attend gathering for lovers of traditional Breton dances in northern Finistère.
The prestigious setting of the castle and the illumination of the inner courtyard give this fest-noz a unique character. The dance floor, set up especially for the occasion, welcomes hundreds of dancers from all over Finistère and beyond. The remarkable acoustics of the main courtyard enhance the sounds of the binioù, bombardes, accordions, and voices of the invited artists.
Each edition features a high-quality program, bringing together seven to eight groups or duos from the best of the Breton traditional scene. Pairs of musicians, vocal duos, accordionists, and saxophonists take turns on stage to offer a varied repertoire: gavottes, plinns, laridés, andro, and many other dances. The 2025 edition notably featured the duos Ebrel/Le Buhé, Vassallo/Guéblez, Le Mapihan mother and daughter, as well as Le Bour/Bodros and Yann Le Corre.
The Grand Fest-Noz de Kerjean is an event open to all: experienced and beginner dancers, families, and curious visitors are welcome. Catering and a bar on site allow for a complete evening in a warm atmosphere. The site opens at 7:30 PM, allowing visitors to enjoy the castle and its gardens before the dancing begins at 8:30 PM.
The event is organized by Chemins du patrimoine en Finistère (EPCC), in partnership with the association Amis du Château de Kerjean and the Saint-Vougay festival committee. This fest-noz illustrates the commitment to keeping Breton historical heritage alive by associating it with the intangible heritage represented by traditional dances and music.
The Grand Fest-Noz de Kerjean 2026 takes place on Saturday, June 13, 2026, from 8:30 PM to 1 AM, in the illuminated main courtyard of the Château de Kerjean in Saint-Vougay. For its 2026 edition, the Grand Fest-Noz returns on Saturday, June 13 to the main courtyard of the Château de Kerjean, true to its appointment on the second Saturday of June.
