Born in Cauterets in 2005, the International Freeride Film Festival had established itself as a major cultural and artistic event dedicated to mountain and extreme sports cinema. The festival aimed to recognize and showcase the artistic quality of freeride ski and snowboard films.
Each edition presented the best productions and achievements of the year from around the world. A jury composed of personalities from the mountain and image world awarded six prizes during the closing ceremony. The festival was entirely free and open to all.
After its first editions in Saint-Lary then Cauterets, the festival moved to the valley, to the Parc des Expositions de Tarbes, to welcome an ever-growing audience. In parallel with the screenings, a ski and snow sports sale allowed visitors to equip themselves for the season.
The 16th edition was held from November 5 to 7, 2021, at the Parc des Expositions de Tarbes, marking the festival's return after a two-year absence due to the health crisis. Since then, no new edition has been publicly documented, and the festival no longer appears to be held currently.
