Japan'Eure: The Manga and Japanese Culture Convention of Eure
Japan'Eure is the flagship event for Japanese culture in the Eure department. Organized in Mesnils-sur-Iton, this convention brings together fans of manga, anime, cosplay, and Japanese culture for a weekend of immersion in the heart of pop Japan. The event follows in the footsteps of the geek and manga conventions flourishing across France, responding to a growing enthusiasm for Japanese pop culture.
A Rich Program of Activities
Japan'Eure offers a comprehensive program for fans of Japanese culture of all ages. The cosplay contest is one of the highlights of the convention, where participants compete with creativity to embody their favorite anime, manga, or video game characters. Exhibitor booths, both professional and amateur, offer manga, figurines, accessories, clothing, and handmade crafts inspired by Japanese culture.
Creative Workshops and Discoveries
Creative workshops are offered throughout the weekend: introduction to manga drawing, origami, Japanese calligraphy, and many other manual activities. Visitors can also discover or rediscover Japanese video games, with arcade machines and consoles available for free play. Demonstrations of martial arts and introductions to traditional Japanese culture complete the program.
A Gathering for the Norman Geek Community
Japan'Eure is more than just a convention: it is a meeting and sharing place for the geek and otaku community in Normandy and neighboring regions. Cosplayers find a space for expression and recognition, while collectors can find rare items from specialized exhibitors. The atmosphere is friendly and festive, bringing together families, teenagers, and adults united by their common passion.
The Damville Festival Hall: An Accessible Venue
The convention is held in the Damville festival hall, Place du Général de Gaulle in Mesnils-sur-Iton (27240). This space accommodates all activities, exhibitors, and visitors in good conditions. Mesnils-sur-Iton, a delegated commune formed by the merger of Damville and several neighboring communes, is located about 25 km southwest of Évreux.
An Expanding Event
Fueled by the growing enthusiasm for Japanese culture in France, Japan'Eure attracts more and more visitors each year. The event contributes to the cultural animation of the Eure region and offers a local alternative to major Parisian conventions like Japan Expo or Paris Manga. Organizers enrich the program with each edition, featuring new guests, new activities, and surprises for fans.
