A unique industrial heritage in France

The Day of Diamond Cutting opens the doors of the former diamond cooperative « La Felletinoise », the last vestige of an exceptional human and industrial adventure. It all began in 1906 when diamond cutters joined forces in a cooperative to cut diamonds, building a facility near the Pont Roby on the ruins of an old mill. Inaugurated in 1912, the cooperative employed up to a hundred diamond cutters, making Felletin a recognized center for diamond cutting.

Immersive guided tours

Behind the glass roofs of the former industrial building lies a world to discover, a testament to a time when Felletin "shone brightly". Guided tours are offered throughout the afternoon — at 2 PM, 3 PM, 4 PM, and 5 PM — guiding visitors through the cooperative's rooms. The tour continues in the cutting workshop, recreated identically thanks to the recovery of all the work tools, offering an authentic dive into the daily lives of the Creuse diamond cutters.

The diamond epic of Felletin

Diamond cutting activity definitively ceased in 1982, but the site has been preserved in its original state. The association Felletin Patrimoine Environnement works to preserve and promote this remarkable industrial heritage. Each year, the Day of Diamond Cutting is part of the Country Heritage and Mills Days or the European Heritage Days, allowing the public to discover a little-known aspect of local craftsmanship and the industrial history of the Limousin region.
