Storytelling in the spotlight in the Champsaur valley

Created in 2006, the L'Écho des Mots festival is a family cultural event that celebrates the art of storytelling and live performance. Located at the Châtelard leisure center in Pont-du-Fossé, in the commune of Saint-Jean-Saint-Nicolas, the festival takes advantage of the vast natural spaces of the Champsaur valley to offer an original and accessible program for all ages.

Performances for all ages

The L'Écho des Mots program explores the world of storytelling in all its forms: puppets, theater, circus, clown, songs, and traditional tales. Performances take place outdoors, in the clearings and meadows of the leisure center, offering an enchanting setting for families. Storytelling walks take spectators along the paths of the Champsaur villages, combining hiking and stories along the way.

Creative workshops and free activities

Beyond the performances, the festival offers numerous creative and fun workshops open to families: woodworking, painting, basket weaving, screen printing on t-shirts, and many other craft techniques. These workshops allow children and parents to discover and practice together in a spirit of sharing and conviviality. Many free and unusual activities also punctuate the festival days.

20 years of magic in the heart of the Alps

In 2025, L'Écho des Mots celebrated its 20th edition, confirming the festival's place in the cultural landscape of the Hautes-Alpes. Over the years, the festival has become a must-attend event for families from Champsaur and vacationers, attracting a loyal audience that returns each summer to discover new artistic creations in this preserved Alpine setting.
