More than a century of Occitan culture

Created at the beginning of the 20th century by Lo Bornat dau Perigòrd, an association founded in 1901, the Félibrée du Périgord is a centennial institution that brings together thousands of people each year to celebrate Occitan language, music, dances, and traditions. Each edition takes place in a different commune in Dordogne, chosen by the organizing association.

Three days of popular celebration

The program spans three days around the first Sunday of July. Friday is dedicated to schoolchildren with balls and introductory sessions. Saturday marks the official opening with the planting of the Félibrée tree, the presentation of the banner to the mayor, cant'oc (Occitan singing), and the ball. Sunday is the highlight with the grand parade of nearly 400 artists in traditional costumes, the mass in Occitan, and the traditional Périgourdin meal.

A living heritage

La Félibrée showcases the know-how of Périgord: demonstrations of old crafts, local crafts, traditional gastronomy. The election of the Queen of La Félibrée is a key moment that perpetuates Occitan traditions. The festival attracts nearly 10,000 visitors each year.
