Musical and festive guinguette in a rural setting
Since its creation, La Guinguette des Rats des Chants has become a must-attend summer event in Eure-et-Loir. Set up in the town hall park of Fontaine-la-Guyon, on rue Charles Péguy, this open-air guinguette transforms the village into a place of celebration and sharing for three days, usually on the third weekend of June. The association Les Rats des Chants, based in this rural village about fifteen kilometers north of Chartres, organizes this event with the energy and good humor that are its trademark.
The festival offers a varied musical program that highlights discoveries and emerging artists, without neglecting the sure bets of the French scene. Chanson, rock, folk, reggae, world music: the Guinguette cultivates eclecticism to bring as many people as possible together. Each edition also features street performances, artistic performances, and theater moments that animate the park's pathways and surprise visitors.
True to its participatory spirit, La Guinguette des Rats des Chants offers numerous workshops open to all: musical introductions, creative workshops, cooperative games, and activities for children. These moments of sharing contribute to creating a warm and inclusive atmosphere, where everyone can find their place, from the youngest to the oldest. The event is a source of pride for the village and actively participates in the cultural and social life of this rural area.
The atmosphere of a popular guinguette is at the heart of the project. A bar, on-site catering with local products, shaded relaxation areas, and a dance floor help recreate the spirit of the guinguettes of yesteryear. The festival focuses on friendliness and intergenerational connection, bringing together villagers and visitors from all over the department in a festive and relaxed atmosphere. Tickets are available online via HelloAsso and on-site.

The Guinguette des Rats des Chants returns for its 9th edition from Thursday, June 18 to Saturday, June 20, 2026 in the castle park of the Fontaine-la-Guyon town hall, rue Charles Péguy. The Les Rats des Chants association will set up a 400 m² big top in the heart of the park and welcomes festival-goers every evening from 6 p.m., with a deliberately limited capacity of 1,500 places per evening to preserve the intimate and warm spirit that is the festival's trademark.
Three evenings of concerts punctuate this 2026 edition, with about ten artists and groups mixing French chanson, rock, folk, festive music, and original creations. The festival gives pride of place to emerging artists while also welcoming headliners such as Celkilt (Celtic rock) or David Vincent (festive chanson). Also on the program: Mister Java, Ring Of Cash, Sans Voies, Les Croquants, Joyeux Bordel, Frères 2 Misère, Les Types à Pied, Ruelle Mélodie, Roland Bernard and the Ukuloops Band, as well as a show by the Compagnie Gratte Nez Mange Doigt as a closing act.
Saturday afternoon is free and open access, with street art shows and participatory workshops for families. On-site catering promotes local products and the associative bar is run by the association's volunteers. Ticketing operates on a free-price basis via HelloAsso or at the Chez Vaness et Kiki bar in Fontaine-la-Guyon, in line with the solidarity values promoted by the association.
The 2026 edition is part of the 2026 Beauperchoise cultural season and benefits from the support of the commune of Fontaine-la-Guyon. Beyond the guinguette, the Les Rats des Chants association animates the village throughout the year (fear trail for Halloween, blind tests, concert evenings for Saint Patrick's Day…).
