Celebrating comics in Bresles

Since its inception in 2019, the La Halle aux Bulles festival has brought the town of Bresles, just south of Beauvais, to life every September. Organized by the town of Bresles and the Madeleine Odent library team, with support from the Beauvaisis urban community and the SMABT, this free event dedicates an entire day to the 9th art, driven by a team of volunteers and a network of loyal partners.

Meet authors and illustrators

Each edition welcomes around twenty comic book, manga, and children's book authors and illustrators from all over France, who sign their works and chat with readers. They also host drawing workshops, live sketching sessions broadcast on a giant screen, and a drawing battle that has become one of the festival's highlights.

A unique theme every year

The festival stands out for its rotating theme, which inspires the poster and shapes the programming: World War I and "La guerre des Lulus" in 2023, video games in 2024, space in 2025, and "a journey to imaginary worlds"—fantasy, science fiction, and wonder—for the 7th edition on September 12, 2026.

Activities for the whole family

Beyond the signings, the festival offers a giant digital quiz, creative workshops led by the local leisure center, exhibitions created by local school students, role-playing games, board games, wargaming, retro gaming, virtual reality, and a comic book contest with prizes awarded that same morning. These activities, designed for all ages, make La Halle aux Bulles a truly family-oriented event.

A free event that continues into the evening

Admission to the festival and all activities is completely free. The day ends with an open-air event: the "Billy Symphony" comic concert in 2022, screenings in partnership with Ciné rural 60 of "La guerre des Lulus" in 2023 and "Super Mario Bros" in 2024, a show by Les Savants Fous in 2025, and a screening of the film "Dragons" (2025 live-action version) in the castle courtyard on September 12, 2026.
