Liverdun, a medieval town of character

Liverdun is a village of character perched on a rocky promontory overlooking a bend in the Moselle, about twenty kilometers north of Nancy. Its cobbled streets, ramparts, half-timbered houses, and 12th-century collegiate church make it an exceptional natural setting for a medieval festival.

Over 20 editions of time travel

The Médiévale de Liverdun has been organized for over twenty years and has established itself as one of the most important medieval festivals in Lorraine. The event transforms the entire village into a living stage where the Middle Ages reign again for a weekend.

A rich and immersive program

The festival offers a multitude of activities that immerse visitors in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages:

  • Rides and jousts: armored riders clash in spectacular battles.
  • Combat demonstrations: swordsmen and fighters recreate medieval confrontations with period weapons.
  • Minstrels and troubadours: musicians and singers perform medieval tunes in the village streets.
  • Craft workshops: blacksmiths, tanners, weavers, and other artisans demonstrate ancient crafts.
  • Medieval market: stalls offering artisanal objects, costumes, jewelry, and period products.
  • Street performances: jugglers, fire-eaters, acrobats, and jesters entertain the squares and alleys.

Over 500 costumed participants

One of the strengths of the Médiévale de Liverdun is the participation of over 500 costumed volunteers who take over the village streets. Knights, ladies, peasants, monks, merchants, and artisans bring the Middle Ages to life and interact with visitors, creating total immersion in the medieval era.

A unifying event

The Médiévale de Liverdun is organized by the association OMA Liverdun, a member of the French Federation of Historical Festivals and Shows. The event mobilizes dozens of volunteers and is the pride of the inhabitants of Liverdun, who actively participate in the success of each edition.
