A journey through time in the heart of the medieval town of Liverdun
La Médiévale de Liverdun is a medieval festival organized annually in the medieval town of Liverdun, a village perched on a promontory overlooking the Moselle in Meurthe-et-Moselle. With over 20 editions to its name, this event brings together more than 500 costumed participants who bring the Middle Ages back to life through rides, battles, performances by minstrels and troubadours, demonstrations of medieval crafts, and a large period market. The 2025 edition has been postponed to 2026 due to construction work on the site.
Liverdun is a village of character perched on a rocky promontory overlooking a bend in the Moselle, about twenty kilometers north of Nancy. Its cobbled streets, ramparts, half-timbered houses, and 12th-century collegiate church make it an exceptional natural setting for a medieval festival.
The Médiévale de Liverdun has been organized for over twenty years and has established itself as one of the most important medieval festivals in Lorraine. The event transforms the entire village into a living stage where the Middle Ages reign again for a weekend.
The festival offers a multitude of activities that immerse visitors in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages:
One of the strengths of the Médiévale de Liverdun is the participation of over 500 costumed volunteers who take over the village streets. Knights, ladies, peasants, monks, merchants, and artisans bring the Middle Ages to life and interact with visitors, creating total immersion in the medieval era.
The Médiévale de Liverdun is organized by the association OMA Liverdun, a member of the French Federation of Historical Festivals and Shows. The event mobilizes dozens of volunteers and is the pride of the inhabitants of Liverdun, who actively participate in the success of each edition.
La Médiévale de Liverdun returns on May 23rd and 24th, 2026, after a one-year absence. Over 500 costumed participants, rides, battles, medieval market, and shows in the medieval town.
After a year's absence due to construction, the Médiévale de Liverdun returns on May 23rd and 24th, 2026. Over 500 costumed participants will take over the alleys of the medieval town for a weekend of rides, battles, minstrel performances, craft workshops, and a medieval market.
