There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
Le Bal des Utopistes was a music event organized by the Cultural Action Department of the City of Palaiseau, in Essonne. Created in 2006 and hosted at the Théâtre des 3 Vallées and in the Parc de l'Hôtel de Ville, it offered each winter, between 2006 and 2013, a popular and accessible program mixing French chanson, world music, and dance music. The last publicly documented edition was the 8th edition, in February 2013 (featuring La Grande Sophie and La Mordue, among others).
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Le Bal des Utopistes no longer seems to be programmed by the City of Palaiseau since 2013. This page preserves the memory of past editions of this musical event in Essonne. Should a new edition be organized, the Cultural Action Department of the Palaiseau Town Hall would remain the official source to consult.
Launched in 2006 by the Cultural Action Department of the City of Palaiseau, Le Bal des Utopistes was for several years a winter musical event in the commune. It was held every February, at the Théâtre des 3 Vallées and in the Parc de l'Hôtel de Ville, and embodied a popular and accessible approach to music: an evening open to the local public, free or at a moderate price, where artistic excellence coexisted with conviviality.
The festival took its name from a state of mind as much as from a musical genre: French chanson, world music, festive jazz, folk, and dance music converged there. The 7th edition (February 10 and 11, 2012) and the 8th edition (February 2013) are the last ones documented by the specialized press and the City's agenda. La Grande Sophie and La Mordue were among the guest artists of the 8th edition.
Le Bal des Utopistes was part of the cultural policy of the City of Palaiseau, which made accessibility and living together the pillars of its action. By offering a quality musical event within a municipal setting, the commune affirmed its desire to make culture accessible to the residents of Palaiseau and Essonne.
No editions after 2013 are publicly documented on the City of Palaiseau website, on the cultural program of the Théâtre des 3 Vallées, or in the press. Several specialized sites now mention the event as inactive. The visual identity, format, and title « Bal des Utopistes » are no longer visible in the communication of the Palaiseau Town Hall.
ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled — festival on hold. No 2026 edition of Le Bal des Utopistes is confirmed by the City of Palaiseau or by any official source. The last publicly documented edition was the 8th edition, in February 2013. The event no longer seems to have been organised since that date.
