A festival of contemporary and experimental music in Creuse
From 2013 to 2024, Le Bruit de la Musique took over, each summer for three days in August, the villages of Toulx-Sainte-Croix, Domeyrot, Saint-Silvain-sous-Toulx, La Celle-sous-Gouzon and Clugnat, in the heart of Creuse. The festival presented a balanced program of composed music (contemporary, concrete, electroacoustic, experimental) and freely improvised music, as well as performances, contemporary dance, experimental cinema, and installations.
Conceived as a space for sharing and exchange around creation, it was aimed at all audiences, in a family-friendly and rural setting. From 2023, the artistic direction of the "common thread" had notably been entrusted to composer Sébastien Roux. The 12th edition (2024) was the subject of a ten-year book and broadcast on France Musique.
The end of an adventure and the birth of Épicentre
The organizers, gathered within the Ryoanji association, extended their commitment to contemporary music through Épicentre, a place dedicated to creation, dissemination, and encounters around contemporary music, located in a rehabilitated former slaughterhouse in Jarnages (Creuse) and inaugurated in 2023. While the Le Bruit de la Musique festival is no longer held, Épicentre's activity continues with other programs (artist residencies, Solstices Sonores, etc.).
