About Lectures Festival

Every year, the Lectures Festival brings together authors and professional readers in Martel, in the Lot region, for a series of dramatic readings. Organized by the association Désir de Livres, the event features performances where actors bring contemporary texts to life, followed by discussions with the authors at various venues across the Haut Quercy area.

Lectures Festival — edition 2026

For its 9th edition, the Lectures Festival welcomes six authors to Martel and its surrounding areas: Laurine Roux, Thibault Daelman, Luc Chomarat, Emmanuelle de Boysson, Françoise Sliwka, and Thomas Vinau. Each author's work will be read by an actor before they engage in a dialogue with the audience, with events taking place from the Palais de la Raymondie to the church of Murel. Actress Chloé Mons, the patron of this year's edition, will lend her voice to several of these readings, including Françoise Sliwka's "La Traversée," a personal account of her journey through cancer.

The 9th edition spans three days across various venues: the Palais de la Raymondie and the market hall in Martel, the former cloister of the Mirepoises, the church in the hamlet of Murel, the Galerie Louie in Strenquels, and the port of Creysse. A roundtable discussion will bring the authors together to debate the question, "Is literature a contact sport?", and the weekend will conclude with a shared picnic.
