2026
About Anglo-Arab Days
The Journées Internationales de l'Anglo-Arabe, also known as the Anglo-Arab Festival, takes place every September at the Haras national de Pompadour during the Grande Semaine de Pompadour. For over two decades, the Association Nationale de l'Anglo-Arabe (ANAA) has hosted the French national breed championship here, alongside an international championship open to breeders from countries belonging to the Confédération Internationale de l'Anglo-Arabe. The competitions are open to foals, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds from sections I, II, and III, judged on conformation, free jumping, and gaits. The event also features the presentation and certification of Anglo-Arab stallions. Admission is free, and there is an exhibitor village and on-site catering.
Anglo-Arab Days — edition 2026
The 2026 Anglo-Arab Festival, or International Anglo-Arab Days, takes place from Thursday, September 17th to Sunday, September 20th, 2026, at the Haras national de Pompadour, during the Grande Semaine de Pompadour. The event features the French and International breed championships for foals, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds, stallion labeling, a raffle, and private sales of sport horses. Free admission.
2026 Edition
The 2026 Anglo-Arab Festival runs from Thursday, September 17th to Sunday, September 20th at the Haras national de Pompadour, coinciding with the Grande Semaine de Pompadour, which takes place from September 16th to 20th. Entries are open until August 31st, 2026, for horses qualified at a local or regional competition with an average score of at least 14/20. Late entries or on-site registrations are not accepted.
The events are reserved for Anglo-Arab foals, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds from sections I, II, and III. The 2 and 3-year-olds are judged on three criteria: conformation, free jumping, and gaits. Mounted jumping is only evaluated for stallion labeling candidates. The 3-year-old events also serve as a selection process for the Espoirs du complet championship at the Mondial du Lion d'Angers in October, with five spots reserved for Anglo-Arabs.
Dominique Théau presides over the competition, and Jean Catry chairs the jury. Breeders from member countries of the International Anglo-Arab Confederation (CIAA) are invited to the international championship.

Pompadour: The Capital of the Anglo-Arab
The Haras national de Pompadour has been the home of the French Anglo-Arab breed championship for more than twenty years. Every September, during the Grande Semaine de Pompadour, the Association Nationale de l'Anglo-Arabe (ANAA) brings together breeders and enthusiasts for a series of days entirely dedicated to the breed: the Journées Internationales de l'Anglo-Arabe, or the Anglo-Arab Festival.
National and International Championships
The events are open to Anglo-Arab foals, 2-year-olds, and 3-year-olds from sections I, II, and III—geldings, colts, and fillies—that have qualified at local or regional shows. The 2 and 3-year-olds are evaluated across three categories: conformation, free jumping, and gaits. Ridden jumping is only judged for those seeking certification. Foals and mares with foals at foot have their own championship, which allows the mares to earn certification for breeding program support.
France also hosts the international championship for the breed: breeders from countries belonging to the Confédération Internationale de l'Anglo-Arabe (CIAA) are invited, with candidates scored according to international standards. The ANAA provides prize money for the national championship events. Furthermore, through SHF Market, the association offers a dedicated space for buyers and sellers to trade young horses aged 0 to 7.
Stallion Certification
The presentation and certification of Anglo-Arab stallions is a highlight of the event. A panel of experts evaluates young breeding prospects and established stallions on their conformation, ridden performance, genetics, and, in some cases, their offspring, in order to award 'Jeunes', 'Espoir', or 'Confirmé' labels. This certification is part of the breed's selection and breeding program, which encourages production, particularly in purebred lines.
During the Grande Semaine de Pompadour
The Journées Internationales de l'Anglo-Arabe coincide with the Société Hippique Française National Finals, which are reserved for 4 to 6-year-old horses in eventing. Together, these two events bring together nearly 550 horses and ponies aged 0 to 6, competing in the arenas of the Haras national and on the cross-country course at the racecourse. There is an exhibitor village and on-site catering, and admission is free.
The Haras national de Pompadour
The Haras national de Pompadour became a royal stud farm in 1761 under the influence of the Marquise de Pompadour, a favorite of Louis XV. Since 2010, it has been part of the Institut français du cheval et de l'équitation (IFCE), under the supervision of the ministries of agriculture and sports. The site hosts over 160 event days per year, including four French championships, two international championships, and 11 race days. It is also open to the public for self-guided or guided tours of the château, stables, and gardens.
