Free multidisciplinary festival in Fresnes-sur-Escaut
Since 2015, the Les Agités du Mélange festival has made Fresnes-sur-Escaut, a former mining town in the Valenciennois region, a hub of artistic effervescence for a weekend in June. Born from the merger of two local events, the Festival du Mélange and Agitation Générale, it embodies a spirit of creative freedom and genre-bending.
The festival unfolds at the quARTier, Fresnes-sur-Escaut's cultural venue, with two stages hosting a deliberately eclectic program:
Free access is at the heart of Les Agités du Mélange's identity. The festival champions free access to culture for all, without income requirements or reservations. This open philosophy extends to the choice of artists programmed, prioritizing discovery, emerging talent, and the cross-pollination of aesthetics.
Fresnes-sur-Escaut, a town marked by its mining history, has made culture a lever for transformation. The quARTier site, a former miners' housing complex converted into a cultural space, symbolizes this renaissance. The Les Agités du Mélange festival is fully involved in this dynamic, bringing together the inhabitants of the Valenciennois region around a demanding and festive program.
The festival is supported by the City of Fresnes-sur-Escaut, the Valenciennes Métropole Agglomeration Community, the Department of Nord, and the Hauts-de-France Region, as well as numerous associative and cultural partners in the area.
The 11th edition of Agités du Mélange takes place on Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th, 2026 at the quARTier d'arts in Fresnes-sur-Escaut. A multidisciplinary and entirely free festival, it features two stages (Driwa and Tandem) with an eclectic program mixing rock, electro, brass band, song, salsa and DJ sets, exhibitions, family activities, and the return of Agités Junior.
Agités du Mélange returns for its 11th edition on Friday, June 12th and Saturday, June 13th, 2026 at the quARTier d'arts in Fresnes-sur-Escaut, at the entrance to the town. A free, multidisciplinary, and committed festival, it offers two days and two stages (Driwa and Tandem) to foster dialogue between contemporary music, visual arts, and live performances.
As every year, the program is entirely conceived and organized by a collective of residents involved from the outset: they are not mere spectators but true actors of the festival. The event is co-organized by the Cap Escaut association and the commune of Fresnes-sur-Escaut.
The opening night starts at 6:00 PM with a stop at the Musée Vivant des Enfants, before the quARTier site opens at 6:30 PM. The program then features St. Python, Mando MCD, Nord//Noir, and La Famille in a DJ set until 1:00 AM.
Saturday begins at 1:00 PM with the Agités Junior Festival, dedicated to young audiences. The afternoon continues with the opening of the exhibitions, the famous Miss/Mister Banane election, La Roulotte Ruche, then concerts follow until 12:45 AM: Les Fûts d'Osons, Barabbas (winner of the springboard competition), Tante Adèle et la Famille, Banda Ancha (salsa), headliner Kamini, and Hyperfuzz to close the night.
The festival adopts an eco-responsible approach: dry toilets with dedicated volunteers, reusable cups, sorting, local beers, local catering (Food Truck, La Frite Agitée), earplugs available, pocket ashtrays, security and first aid on site. An internal currency system, the Agités (1 € = 1 Agité), allows for consumption on site.
