About Les Estivales

Les Estivales de Lamballe is the summer event program for the town of Lamballe-Armor in the Côtes-d'Armor region. Since 2020, the town and its partners—the Cap d'Erquy - Lamballe-Armor Tourist Office, the Haras national de Lamballe, the Musée Mathurin Méheut, and Les Vitrines de Lamballe—have filled every Thursday from mid-July to the end of August with a weekly market, a Breton artisan market, equestrian shows, pony rides, carriage rides, guided tours, and exhibitions. The highlight is the Régalades: every Thursday evening at Place du Martray, a Breton dance workshop precedes a world music concert and a free-access fest-noz. The Estivales also extend to the town's coastline in Morieux, where the Saint-Gobrien church hosts a series of concerts.

Les Estivales — edition 2026

For the seventh year in a row, Les Estivales will take over every Thursday from July 16 to August 20, 2026, in Lamballe-Armor. The main event is the Régalades on Place du Martray: enjoy free Breton dance lessons with Les Gastadours starting at 6:30 PM, world music concerts at 7:30 PM, and a fest-noz at 9:30 PM, all with free admission. Throughout the summer, the lineup features La Selva Canta Quartet, Nordet, Sophia Tahi with her tribute to Nina Simone, Brazakuja, and the Big Band Penthièvre, alongside fest-noz performances by Nozicaä, Ital Express, Seim, Handia, and the Hamon Martin Quintet. During the day, the Haras national presents its equestrian show "Odyssée cavalière" at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM, while the Breton creators' market, the Musée Mathurin Méheut, and concerts at the Saint-Gobrien church in Morieux round out the program.

Seven summers of celebration in Lamballe-Armor

Les Estivales is the flagship summer event program for the city of Lamballe-Armor. Organized for the seventh consecutive year by the municipality and its partners—the Cap d'Erquy - Lamballe-Armor Tourist Office, the Haras national de Lamballe, the Musée Mathurin Méheut, and Les Vitrines de Lamballe—it brings together shows, concerts, exhibitions, and sales under one banner. The heart of the event is the "Lamballe Thursdays": every Thursday from July 16 to August 20, 2026, the city reveals its festive, cultural, and gourmet side.

The Régalades, Place du Martray

Every Thursday evening, Place du Martray hosts the Régalades, a series of free open-air evenings now in its 29th year. The ritual is set in stone: at 6:30 PM, Les Gastadours kick things off with an introduction to Breton dance; food service begins at 7:00 PM; at 7:30 PM, it's time for a world music concert; and at 9:30 PM, the fest-noz takes over until the end of the night. The 2026 lineup is a global journey, from the Mexican and African sounds of La Selva Canta Quartet to the rock of Nordet, from Sophia Tahi's tribute to Nina Simone to the Brazilian and Balkan rhythms of Brazakuja, before the jazz and rock finale by the Big Band Penthièvre. On the dance floor, Nozicaä, Ital Express, Seim, Handia, and the Hamon Martin Quintet will take turns at the fest-noz. The July 30th evening embraces a costume theme with the motto "Everyone in a sailor shirt!"

Thursdays at the Haras national

The Haras national de Lamballe turns every Thursday into a full day of activities. The grand equestrian show "Odyssée cavalière," performed by female artists, blends acrobatics, carriage driving, dressage, and liberty work into a poetic and musical experience. There are two 75-minute performances at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM in a covered, climate-controlled arena. The day is filled with guided tours at 11:00 AM, 2:30 PM, and 4:00 PM, discovery tours at 3:30 PM and 4:30 PM, pony rides from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, and carriage rides from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, not to mention morning activities for children.

Museum, markets, and shops

The Musée Mathurin Méheut offers flash tours of its temporary exhibition, which in 2026 is dedicated to "Henri Rivière – Mathurin Méheut: Japonisme in Brittany," contrasting the worlds of two artists who loved Brittany and were inspired by Japanese aesthetics. The weekly market and the Breton creators' market bring the city center to life, the Landes de La Poterie can be explored with a guide, the medieval garden offers guided tours, and Les Vitrines de Lamballe organizes a sidewalk sale and a grand spelling bee with participating local shops.

Concerts at the Saint-Gobrien church in Morieux

Les Estivales also extends to the coast in Morieux, within the beautiful setting of the Saint-Gobrien church and its 12th to 17th-century frescoes. Six summer Wednesdays feature a concert at 9:00 PM, often preceded at 7:30 PM by a guided tour led by the Tourist Office. The Cordes à Part trio opens the series on July 8, followed by the jazz trio "Alors on jazz," the Beca'Swing orchestra, the Chœur d'hommes de la Baie, and the Duo Isa Lana.

A full summer of events in Lamballe-Armor

The Estivales were launched in 2020 by the town of Lamballe-Armor to bring all summer activities under one banner. The town works with four loyal partners: the Cap d'Erquy - Lamballe-Armor Tourist Office, the Haras national de Lamballe, the Musée Mathurin Méheut, and Les Vitrines de Lamballe. The program combines shows, concerts, exhibitions, and sales, with a common theme: the "Lamballe Thursdays," running from mid-July to the end of August, inviting visitors to discover the town in a festive, cultural, and gourmet way.

The Régalades, the beating heart of Thursday nights

The Régalades are the oldest and most popular part of the program: this series of free open-air evenings has now surpassed its twenty-ninth edition. Every Thursday, the Place du Martray follows a set ritual: Les Gastadours open the evening with a Breton dance workshop at 6:30 PM, food stalls open at 7:00 PM, a world music concert starts at 7:30 PM, and the fest-noz takes over at 9:30 PM. The lineup blends world music, jazz, rock, and traditional Breton dance repertoire.

Thursdays at the Haras national

The Haras national de Lamballe, one of the last active French national stud farms, opens its doors wide every Thursday in summer. Its grand equestrian show, held at 2:30 PM and 5:30 PM in an indoor arena, combines vaulting, carriage driving, dressage, and liberty work. The day is rounded out by guided tours, discovery visits, pony rides, carriage rides, and morning activities for children.

Culture, markets, and shops

The Musée Mathurin Méheut, dedicated to the major 20th-century Breton painter, offers flash tours of its temporary exhibition. The weekly market and the Breton artisan market bring the town center to life with local crafts and produce. The Tourist Office leads guided tours of the medieval garden and the Landes de La Poterie. Meanwhile, Les Vitrines de Lamballe and participating shops organize a sidewalk sale and a grand dictation contest.

Heading to the coast in Morieux

The Estivales extend beyond the historic town center to the coastal part of the municipality. In Morieux, the Saint-Gobrien church, rich with frescoes dating from the 12th to the 17th century, hosts several concerts on Wednesday evenings, often preceded by a guided tour led by the Tourist Office.
