Free street performances every Tuesday in summer in the courtyard of the old abbey of Uzerche
Les Mardis d'Uzerche is a street performance festival organized every summer for over 14 years in the medieval city of Uzerche, nicknamed 'the pearl of the Limousin'. Every Tuesday evening, from early July to mid-August, the courtyard of the old abbey, a heritage site in the heart of the historic center, transforms into an open-air stage to welcome artists and companies from all over France. With an eclectic program combining theater, comedy, concerts, acrobatics, circus, and artistic performances, Les Mardis d'Uzerche embodies the spirit of popular and accessible culture for all.
One of the major assets of Les Mardis d'Uzerche is the free admission to all performances. Every Tuesday, families, locals, and tourists can enjoy quality entertainment without tickets or reservations, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The program, renewed each year, offers a wide variety of artistic genres: street theater, comedy, French chanson concerts, world music, acrobatics, contemporary circus, puppetry, and many other forms of live performance. This diversity allows us to reach all audiences, from the youngest to the oldest, and to discover various artistic universes.
The performances take place in the courtyard of the old abbey of Uzerche, a historic site in the heart of the medieval city. This intimate and elegant setting, surrounded by ancient stones and greenery, offers a unique and warm atmosphere, conducive to encounters between artists and spectators. The open-air setup allows for a large audience while maintaining proximity to the artists, characteristic of street arts. Uzerche, with its cobbled streets, half-timbered houses, and its location in a loop of the Vézère river, offers a prime tourist and heritage setting in Corrèze.
Les Mardis d'Uzerche play an essential role in the summer entertainment of the city and its surroundings. Every Tuesday, locals and tourists gather in a festive and friendly atmosphere, strengthening social ties and the cultural life of the area. The festival is part of the cultural dynamic of Uzerche, a city that also hosts the Journées Musicales d'Uzerche (MUZ'), a classical and jazz music festival, and other artistic events throughout the year. Les Mardis d'Uzerche embody the commitment of the municipality and its partners to vibrant, accessible, and open culture for all.
The 2026 edition of Les Mardis d'Uzerche will take place from July 7 to August 18, 2026, offering seven Tuesdays of free and eclectic performances in the courtyard of the old abbey of Uzerche.
