Les Mardis d'Uzerche is a street performance festival organized every summer by the commune of Uzerche, in the medieval city nicknamed « the pearl of Limousin ». Every Tuesday evening, from early July to mid-August, the Jean-Jaurès courtyard, in the heart of the historic center, transforms into an open-air stage (relocated to the Sophie-Dessus Auditorium in case of rain) to welcome artists and companies from all over France. With an eclectic program mixing theater, comedy, concerts, acrobatics, circus, and artistic performances, Les Mardis d'Uzerche embody the spirit of popular culture accessible to all.
One of the major assets of Les Mardis d'Uzerche is that all shows are free. Every Tuesday, families, residents, and passing tourists can enjoy a quality show without a ticket or reservation, in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The program, renewed each year, offers a great diversity of artistic genres: street theater, physical comedy, concerts, world music, acrobatics, contemporary circus, puppets, and many other forms of live performance. This diversity allows it to reach all audiences, from the youngest to the oldest, and to introduce them to varied artistic worlds.
The shows take place in the Jean-Jaurès courtyard, in the heart of the medieval city of Uzerche. This intimate and elegant setting, surrounded by centuries-old stones, offers a unique and warm atmosphere, conducive to encounters between artists and spectators. The open-air configuration allows for a large audience while maintaining proximity to the artists, characteristic of street arts. Uzerche, with its cobbled streets, turreted houses, and its location in a loop of the Vézère, offers a prime tourist and heritage setting in Corrèze.
Les Mardis d'Uzerche play an essential role in the summer animation of the city and its surroundings. Every Tuesday, residents and tourists gather in a festive and friendly atmosphere, strengthening social ties and the cultural life of the territory. The festival is part of Uzerche's cultural dynamic, a city that also hosts the Journées Musicales d'Uzerche (MUZ'), a classical and jazz music festival, and other artistic events throughout the year. Les Mardis d'Uzerche embody the commitment of the commune and its partners to a vibrant, accessible, and open culture for all.
