The musical and festive meeting of autumn in Limousin since 1992
Organized by the association Débroussaillons l'Expression since 1992, the Scènes d'Automne festival transforms the village of Saint-Maurice-les-Brousses every end of October into an open stage for live music. At the Espace Juliette Gréco, two evenings of eclectic concerts bring together rock, French chanson, world music, and folk in a friendly and warm atmosphere, in the heart of the Haute-Vienne countryside.
Since its creation in 1992, the Scènes d'Automne festival has established itself as a must-attend event in the cultural life of Haute-Vienne. Driven with passion by the association Débroussaillons l'Expression, this annual event proves that a small village in Limousin can vibrate to the rhythm of high-quality concerts. Every year, at the end of October, Saint-Maurice-les-Brousses hosts artists from the French and international scene for two evenings of live music at the Espace Juliette Gréco, the communal village hall located in the heart of the town.
The strength of Scènes d'Automne lies in the diversity of its programming. Over its thirty-four editions, the festival has hosted artists as varied as Les Hurlements d'Léo, Debout sur le Zinc, Soviet Suprem, O'Bronson, Les Humeurs Cérébrales, and Dirty Old Mat. From Celtic rock to committed chanson, from festive folk to world music, each edition offers an eclectic sonic journey that appeals to an intergenerational audience. The four concerts spread over two evenings offer a dense program where national headliners rub shoulders with promising regional bands.
Scènes d'Automne is above all a human adventure. The association Débroussaillons l'Expression, composed of passionate volunteers from Saint-Maurice-les-Brousses and the surrounding area, has been supporting the festival since its origins. This associative dimension gives the event a rare authenticity: the welcome is warm, exchanges between the public and artists are facilitated, and the atmosphere remains resolutely friendly. The festival contributes to the cultural dynamism of a rural area located about twenty kilometers south of Limoges, demonstrating that culture is not the preserve of big cities.
It is at the Espace Juliette Gréco, the communal hall of Saint-Maurice-les-Brousses, that the concerts take place. This versatile venue, named in homage to the great French singer and actress, offers an intimate setting ideal for quality live performances. The proximity between the stage and the audience creates a warm atmosphere that is the signature of the festival. A bar and catering on site allow the party to continue between concerts, in a typically Limousin spirit of sharing and conviviality.
