Les Médiévales de Fontfroide highlight medieval know-how through numerous workshops and demonstrations. Visitors can discover leatherworking, heraldry, stained glass art, bookbinding and restoration, stonemasonry, calligraphy, and herbalism. Medieval weapon presentations explain the equipment of knights and soldiers. These participatory activities, especially for younger audiences, reveal the diversity of trades that shaped the medieval world.

Combat shows and equestrian arts

The heart of the Médiévales beats to the rhythm of medieval combat demonstrations. The Compagnie du Comté de Toulouse offers realistic clashes, while Les Centaures du Temps present breathtaking equestrian shows in the abbey's main courtyard. These spectacular reenactments immerse spectators in the atmosphere of medieval tournaments and battles, with a concern for historical authenticity that delights both enthusiasts and newcomers.

The grand medieval banquet

On Saturday evening, Les Médiévales de Fontfroide offer a grand medieval banquet in the abbey's former monks' refectory. This festive dinner, served from 7 pm, features dishes inspired by medieval recipes accompanied by table entertainment, music, and shows. The banquet is one of the event's highlights, offering a unique gastronomic and cultural experience in an exceptional historical setting. Reservations are essential due to limited seating.
