About Les Musicales de Bastia

Les Musicales de Bastia is the oldest island festival in Corsica, created in 1987, initially as a biennial event, then becoming an annual event from 1989. Organized by the eponymous association in Bastia (Haute-Corse), it highlights the French and Corsican scene by blending independent pop, electronic music, jazz, and new voices, within the intimate setting of L'Alb'Oru.

Les Musicales de Bastia, Corsica's oldest festival

Les Musicales de Bastia was founded in 1987 as a biennial event, before becoming an annual festival in 1989. As the oldest festival on the island, it is now firmly established in the cultural landscape of Bastia and Haute-Corse, supported by the association of the same name and a team of volunteers mobilized year-round.

A program balancing island scene and French emerging artists

The festival claims an «ambitious, popular, inclusive, and committed» approach. It fosters dialogue between Corsican creation and broader proposals from the French scene: independent pop, electronic music, soul, electro-rock, emerging voices. National headliners, talents spotted at the K'Scolta Music Awards, and new names come together over a few concentrated evenings.

L'Alb'Oru, the festival's setting

For several editions, the heart of the festival has beaten at the Centre Culturel Alb'Oru, rue Saint-Exupéry in Bastia. The «concerts + festival village» format brings together bars, food trucks, and meeting spaces every evening in an intimate setting designed to facilitate connection between artists and the public.

Les Vagues Sonores: an off-site component

The festival extends its main program with Les Vagues Sonores (Sound Waves), a free series of meetings, conferences, and off-site activities (retirement homes, community restaurants, partner venues). Topics covered include music, live performance, gender-based and sexual violence in festive environments, and event ecology.

An established event in Bastia's cultural life

Supported by the Collectivité de Corse, the Ville de Bastia (Bastia Cità di Cultura), and the Office de Tourisme Intercommunal de Bastia, Les Musicales de Bastia remains one of the highlights of the cultural spring in Haute-Corse.

Les Musicales de Bastia — 38th edition

From Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7, 2026, Les Musicales de Bastia celebrate their 38th edition at the Centre Culturel Alb'Oru. Four evenings in Bastia, Haute-Corse, bringing together independent pop, electronic music, and new voices from the French and Corsican scene.

An «ambitious, popular, inclusive, and committed» approach

According to the organizing association, the 2026 edition boasts a program that highlights island creation and artistic emergence, without foregoing national headliners. The festival unfolds its project in two complementary parts: the concerts at Alb'Oru and the Vagues Sonores, a free cycle of meetings and conferences on music, live performance, gender-based and sexual violence in festive environments, and event ecology.
