Festival of street arts and music in Le Havre
Since 2010, Les Z'Estivales has animated the heart of Le Havre every summer with an open-air street art and music festival that transforms the city center, rebuilt by Auguste Perret — a UNESCO World Heritage site — into a vast open-air stage. For several weeks in July-August, over 70 shows and 200 artists from all over France take over the city's squares, streets, and esplanades to offer an eclectic and free program: street theater, dance, circus, concerts, roaming brass bands, and surprise performances. An integral part of the LH Été program by the City of Le Havre, Les Z'Estivales has become the unmissable summer event on the Norman coast.
Created in 2010 by the City of Le Havre, Les Z'Estivales has become, in just a few editions, the emblematic street arts festival of the seaside city. Every summer, for several weeks, the city center rebuilt by Auguste Perret — a UNESCO World Heritage site since 2005 — transforms into an open-air artistic playground, hosting performing arts companies, musicians, and performers from all over France.
The strength of Les Z'Estivales lies in its location within the monumental architecture of the rebuilt center: shows unfold on the esplanade of the Hôtel de Ville, Place Auguste Perret, the gardens of the Hôtel de Ville, the seafront, and the pedestrian streets, just a few minutes' walk from Le Havre's major museums (MuMa, Appartement témoin Perret). This dialogue between live art and architectural heritage gives the festival a unique atmosphere.
Les Z'Estivales offers a rich program of street arts: itinerant theater, outdoor contemporary dance, street circus, giant puppets, clowns, acrobats, stilt walkers, and participatory performances. Shows follow one another throughout the day, taking over unexpected locations and creating improbable encounters between artists and passers-by.
The musical program of Les Z'Estivales offers a broad panorama: roaming brass bands, world music concerts (notably during the MoZ'aïque festival, which is part of the summer program), jazz, chanson, world music, and sound performances. Open-air concerts, often at sunset facing the sea, are highlights of the Le Havre summer.
Les Z'Estivales is part of the overall LH Été program by the City of Le Havre, which offers free cultural, sports, and leisure activities throughout the city from late July to late August. The entire festival is free to access, allowing all audiences — families, tourists, residents — to enjoy the shows without reservation or ticket.
Located in a territory buzzing with cultural activity since the Un Été au Havre event launched in 2017 for the city's 500th anniversary, Les Z'Estivales contributes to Le Havre's reputation as a leading summer cultural and tourist destination in Normandy.
Les Z'Estivales 2026 are expected in July-August 2026, as part of the LH Été program, with free street art shows and concerts in the center of Le Havre.
Les Z'Estivales return in summer 2026 to animate the center of Le Havre with street art shows, concerts, and open-air performances, as part of the LH Été program. The program will be announced in spring 2026.
