About Livarot Cheese Fair

The Livarot Cheese Fair is a gastronomic event organized on the first weekend of August by the Livarot Animations association in the streets of the town center of Livarot-Pays-d'Auge. For two days, around 80 exhibitors offer cheeses, cured meats, wines, and regional specialties from all over France. The famous "biggest Livarot eater" contest, children's entertainment, a country meal, and a dance evening make it a festive and gourmet event.

A gourmet fair in the land of Livarot

Since 1989, the Livarot Cheese Fair has celebrated Livarot AOP cheese and gastronomic products in the streets of the town center of Livarot-Pays-d'Auge. Organized by the Livarot Animations association, this fair brings together around 80 exhibitors from all over France, offering cheeses, cured meats, wines, sweet and savory products, in a friendly and popular atmosphere.

Livarot cheese in the spotlight

Livarot AOP, nicknamed "the Colonel" due to its five strips of rye grass, is the star of the fair. Visitors discover and taste this emblematic cheese of the Pays d'Auge, alongside its Norman cousins — Camembert, Pont-l'Évêque, and Neufchâtel — and regional and national gastronomic specialties.

The "biggest Livarot eater" contest

The most spectacular moment of the fair is the "biggest Livarot eater" contest, which involves devouring 750 grams of Livarot in a record time. This tasting challenge attracts brave competitors and an enthusiastic audience every Sunday afternoon. A yogurt eating contest is also offered to children aged 6 to 10 on Saturday.

Entertainment and festivities

The fair offers numerous activities: inflatable structures, face painting, duck fishing, pedal cars for children, musical entertainment, wattle and daub and flour painting demonstrations, and cheese label exchange for collectors. The country meal on Saturday evening in Place Pasteur and the free dance evening complete this festive weekend.
