Puppet and Object Theatre Festival of Saint-Brieuc
The Marionnet'IC Festival was born in Saint-Brieuc over 25 years ago. Over the years, it has established itself as one of the major cultural events in the Côtes-d'Armor and the Saint-Brieuc agglomeration, bringing together dozens of French and international companies specializing in puppetry and object theatre every year.
The festival's ambition is to guarantee access to culture for all, and particularly to the art of puppetry. The program is aimed at all audiences, with shows accessible from 3 months old. Young and old alike find their happiness, between intimate shows, large-scale productions, and innovative creations mixing puppets, object theatre, and new technologies.
For several years, the festival has chosen to extend its reach across the entire territory of Saint-Brieuc Armor Agglomération. Shows are presented in about twenty towns, with a festival hub at La Griff in Saint-Brieuc. Partnerships with cultural and educational stakeholders in the region enable innovative actions: shows at residents' homes, in nurseries, in nursing homes, outdoors, or by bicycle.
Each edition hosts more than twenty companies for nearly 80 performances. The festival also offers professional meetings, workshops, and discussion forums between artists and the public.
27th edition of the Marionnet'IC Festival, held from April 27 to May 2, 2026 in Saint-Brieuc and 18 communes of the agglomeration. A week of puppet shows and object theatre for all audiences, with a 'decentralization' part from April 29 to May 1 in the communes of Saint-Brieuc Armor Agglomération.
The Marionnet'IC Festival celebrated its 27th edition from April 27 to May 2, 2026 in Saint-Brieuc and throughout its agglomeration. As every year, the heart of the festival took place at La Griff (2, rue des Lycéens Martyrs, Saint-Brieuc), with a deployment of shows in 18 communes of Saint-Brieuc Armor Agglomération.
From April 29 to May 1, 2026, the festival team offered a 'decentralization' operation with three companies invited to tour the communes of the agglomeration:
15 performances were programmable with this setup (morning or afternoon, for all audiences 11h/17h or school groups 9h30/14h30).
As it has for over twenty-five years, the 2026 edition confirmed the festival's ambition: to make the art of puppetry accessible to everyone, from toddlers (from 3 months old) to adults. In recent editions, Marionnet'IC generally welcomes about twenty French and international companies for nearly 80 performances during the week. The program combines intimate shows, large-scale productions, innovative creations blending puppets, object theatre, music, and new technologies.
Born in Saint-Brieuc in the late 1990s, Marionnet'IC is supported by the association Les Marionnet'IC, under the artistic direction of Philippe Saumont. The festival has become one of the biggest annual events in Côtes-d'Armor and the Saint-Brieuc agglomeration. The next edition will be held in spring 2027.
