A Journey Through Time in the Heart of Sézanne
Since its creation, the Medieval Festival of Sézanne has established itself as an unmissable event for history enthusiasts and families seeking a change of scenery. The Mail des Cordeliers, in the historic center of this charming Champagne town, transforms for a weekend into a true medieval village.
An Authentic Medieval Market
Medieval artisans set up their stalls to showcase their traditional skills: blacksmiths, potters, tanners, illuminators, and weavers offer demonstrations of their ancestral crafts. Visitors can discover and purchase artisanal objects, medieval jewelry, decorative weapons, and period clothing.
Béhourd Combat and Spectacular Entertainment
Béhourd, medieval armored combat, is one of the festival's highlights. Historical reenactment groups also offer weapon handling demonstrations, jousts, and historical sketches. Troubadours and jesters entertain the streets with music, juggling, and acrobatics.
The Templar Commandery
A recreated camp presents daily life in the Middle Ages: preparing meals over a wood fire, carding and spinning wool, and making chainmail. Medieval games are offered to children: archery, wooden games, and creative workshops allow the younger ones to immerse themselves in the medieval world.
Medieval Gastronomy
Food and drink stalls from the era allow visitors to discover the flavors of the Middle Ages: hypocras, cervoise, grilled meats, and medieval pastries delight visitors' taste buds.
