About Millau Jazz

Founded in 1992 by about fifteen jazz-loving friends, the Millau en Jazz association promotes an ambitious cultural project centered around jazz and improvised music in the heart of the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park. The Millau Jazz Festival, the association's highlight, takes place every year on the third week of July in the gardens of the Château de Sambucy. The concert season, from November to May at the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple, complements this demanding program.

Millau en Jazz: Over Thirty Years of Creative Jazz in Aveyron

The Millau en Jazz adventure began in 1992, when about fifteen jazz-loving friends decided to create an association to organize concerts in Millau and the villages of southern Aveyron. Since then, the association has continued to grow and now brings together over 100 volunteers, including about fifteen who are highly involved in organizing the festival and the season's programming.

The Millau Jazz Festival: Five Days of Open-Air Jazz

The Millau Jazz Festival, the association's highlight, takes place every year on the third week of July. The concerts are held in the magnificent gardens of the Château de Sambucy, a green setting in the heart of Millau. For five days, the best musicians from the national and international jazz scene perform on stage, offering a panorama of contemporary, creative, and improvised jazz.

A Militant and Progressive Vision of Jazz

Millau en Jazz champions a militant and progressive vision of jazz, in line with professional networks such as the AJC (Association Jazzistique Contemporaine) and Occijazz. The programming prioritizes contemporary jazz, improvised music, and crossovers with other musical and artistic disciplines. The association places significant importance on emerging artists and new talents.

The Concert Season: From November to May

Beyond the summer festival, Millau en Jazz offers a concert season from November to May, in partnership with the Théâtre de la Maison du Peuple in Millau. Eight concerts per season allow the Millau audience to discover jazz artists throughout the year.

A Festival Rooted in the Grands Causses Territory

Located in the heart of the Grands Causses Regional Natural Park, the Millau Jazz Festival benefits from its exceptional natural environment. The festival also organizes "Jazz en balade" (Jazz on the Go) roaming concerts in the villages of southern Aveyron, workshops for young audiences, and reading-concerts, extending its reach far beyond Millau.

Millau Jazz — edition 2026

35th edition of the Millau Jazz Festival, from July 12 to 18, 2026. The heart of the festival beats in the gardens of Château de Sambucy, in Millau (Aveyron), with "Jazz en balade" concerts beforehand in the villages of southern Aveyron. An anniversary edition celebrating free, mixed, and untamed jazz, from James Brandon Lewis to Vincent Peirani, including Arat Kilo.

Millau Jazz Festival 2026 — 35th edition

For its 35th edition, from July 12 to 18, 2026, the Millau Jazz Festival champions a free, mixed, and untamed jazz, conceived as a common good rooted in the territory of the Parc naturel régional des Grands Causses. The program tells of a jazz that is not afraid to rub shoulders with hip-hop, Afro-Caribbean music, urban grooves, pop dreams, trance, and electronic pulsations, while maintaining a demanding writing style and a taste for risk.

Five evenings in the gardens of Château de Sambucy

The heart of the festival is located in the gardens of Château de Sambucy, a green setting in the center of Millau. Among the headliners: James Brandon Lewis, one of the major voices of current New York saxophone, with a high-intensity quartet; Vincent Peirani and his new fresco « Living Being IV : Time Reflections »; and Arat Kilo, a leading French Ethio-jazz orchestra, accompanied by Mamani Keita and Mike Ladd around « Danama ».

Jazz en balade in southern Aveyron

The « Jazz en balade » spirit permeates neighboring communes, with open-air concerts in Saint-Rome-de-Tarn and Aguessac prior to the Millau evenings. The festival also offers family and young audience programming, as well as workshops.

A committed and sustainable festival

The Millau Jazz Festival continues its commitments in 2026: soft mobility, waste reduction and sorting, elimination of plastic bottles, short supply chains, accessibility (especially for the hearing impaired), and promotion of volunteering.
