About fifteen free stages in the city center on June 21, 2026, until 2 AM
Every June 21, Aix-en-Provence celebrates the Fête de la Musique: squares and streets of the old town transform into open stages where amateurs, associations, and professional artists play for free, from early evening until the heart of the night. Supported by the City of Aix-en-Provence, the day is entirely free and mixes all styles, from rock to hip-hop, jazz to gospel, electro to world music.
Since its national creation in 1982, the Fête de la Musique has become one of the major popular summer events in Aix-en-Provence. On June 21, music freely takes over public spaces: amateurs and professionals perform on squares, forecourts, and city center streets, from early evening until late at night. Aix is one of the few cities in France to authorize concerts until 2 AM in dedicated locations.
Each year, the City of Aix-en-Provence labels about fifteen associative and amateur stages spread throughout the old town, complemented by initiatives from bars, music schools, and local collectives. Genres coexist without hierarchy: rock, punk, jazz, funk, gospel, hip-hop, electro, reggae, chanson, and world music. The Class'Eurock springboard, created in 1991 to support young bands from the region, holds its grand finale there.
Among the emblematic locations of the festival: Place de l'Hôtel du Poët, the forecourt of the Tribunal de Commerce, Esplanade Cézanne, the top of Cours Sextius in the Faubourg district, Place de l'Université, Place des Martyrs de la Résistance, Place de la Madeleine, Place d'Albertas, Place Verdun, Place Saint-Jean de Malte, or Place d'Arménie.
The Fête de la Musique 2026 in Aix-en-Provence will take place on Sunday, June 21, from 6 PM to 2 AM, free of charge throughout the city center. About fifteen stages, officially recognized by the City, will enliven the old town, complemented by concerts from bars, associations, and music schools.
