About Music Festival in Châteauroux
Every June 21, Châteauroux celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, local bands, and established artists play for free in the streets and squares of the city center. Organized by Châteauroux Métropole, the day is entirely free and open to all, from rock to classical, including jazz, chanson, electro, and world music.
The Fête de la Musique in Châteauroux
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Châteauroux into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces on the occasion of the summer solstice, from late afternoon until late into the night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A celebration in the heart of the city center
Usually, the event unfolds throughout the entire city center of Châteauroux: Place de la République, the public garden, the Couvent des Cordeliers, the Équinoxe forecourt, and terraces host outdoor stages and concerts. Choirs, musicians, bands, DJs, and amateur groups take turns, while bars and restaurants extend the celebration. All styles coexist: rock, jazz, world music, French chanson, electro, and classical.
