Every June 21, Échirolles celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, conservatory ensembles, associations, and professional artists bring the city's squares and streets to life for free, within the Grenoble metropolitan area. The day is entirely free and open to all, featuring all musical styles.
The Fête de la Musique in Échirolles
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Échirolles, the second largest municipality in the Grenoble metropolitan area, into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until late at night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A festival at the heart of the neighborhoods
Usually, the Place des Cinq Fontaines is one of the highlights of the evening, with entertainment and an open-air concert. The city's bars and restaurants host musicians on their terraces or indoors, while the Jean-Wiéner municipal conservatory participates in the event with its ensembles and students. All styles coexist, from rock to French chanson and world music.
