Every June 21, Fougères celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): amateur musicians, local bands, and artists participate for free in a big evening of concerts, with several stages set up in the city center streets and entertainment from bars and restaurants. The day is entirely free and open to all, at the foot of the medieval castle.
The Fête de la Musique in Fougères
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Fougères, in Ille-et-Vilaine, into an open-air stage every June 21. On the occasion of the summer solstice, music freely takes over public spaces, from the squares of the historic center to the castle surroundings, in all genres and for all audiences.
