About Music Festival in Laon
Every June 21, Laon celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, local bands, and regional artists play for free in the streets, squares, and on the terraces of bars and restaurants. The celebration is concentrated in the Medieval City, perched on its hill at the foot of the cathedral. Organized by the City of Laon, the evening is entirely free and open to all.
The Fête de la Musique in Laon
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Laon into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until the heart of the night, in all genres and for all audiences.
A celebration in the heart of the Medieval City
Usually, the entertainment unfolds in Laon's Medieval City and its historic center, around the Place du Parvis and at the foot of Notre-Dame Cathedral. Concerts and open stages follow one another in the streets and on the terraces of participating bars and restaurants, from rock to jazz, including chanson, classical, and world music. To reach the events, a free « Fête de la Musique » shuttle usually connects the different neighborhoods of Laon to the Medieval City in the evening.
