About Music Festival in Saint-Flour
Every June 21, Saint-Flour celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, conservatory students, and artists of all styles animate the streets, squares, and the bandstand of the allées Georges Pompidou for free. Organized by Saint-Flour Communauté, the day is entirely free and open to all, both in the medieval upper town and in the faubourg.
The Fête de la Musique in Saint-Flour
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the sub-prefecture of Cantal into an open-air stage every June 21. To celebrate the arrival of summer, amateur and professional musicians of all levels and styles freely take over public spaces, from the upper town perched on its basalt rock to the faubourg, in the evening and late into the night.
A celebration at the heart of the city
Usually, activities are concentrated around the bandstand of the allées Georges Pompidou and in the city center streets, with the participation of students and ensembles from the Saint-Flour Communauté conservatory and the city's bars. From classical to contemporary music, including choirs and brass bands, the festival blends all genres in a friendly and family atmosphere.
