About Onion Festival

Every first weekend of September, the Erdeven festival committee hosts the Fête des Oignons, a tradition dating back to the late 1970s that celebrates local market gardening. The town comes alive for two days with a country-style meal and dance on Saturday evening, followed by a parade of floats and a producers' market on Sunday, culminating in the highlight of the event: the onion-throwing contest.

An event brought to you by the local festival committee

The festival is organized by the Erdeven committee with the support of the municipality and the Auray Quiberon Terre Atlantique intercommunal authority, which promotes it in its annual calendar. Held since the late 1970s, it is one of the longest-standing events in the town's calendar.

The weekend features a mix of musical entertainment, Breton dancers, and the local Celtic circle, with a parade of floats winding through the town on Sunday afternoon. Alongside this, an onion and vegetable market brings together local producers, a flea market hosts nearly two hundred exhibitors, and the traditional onion-throwing competition rounds off the festivities.
