International science popularization festival in Toulouse bars
Pint of Science is an international science popularization festival held every year in May, simultaneously in over 60 French cities. In Toulouse, researchers take over the city's bars and cafes to present their work to the general public, over a drink and in a relaxed atmosphere.
Pint of Science is an international festival born in the United Kingdom, whose objective is to bring scientific research closer to the general public. The concept is simple: rather than waiting for the public in laboratories or lecture halls, scientists come to meet them in bars and cafes for a few evenings in May.
In Toulouse, the event annually mobilizes researchers from the University of Toulouse and its laboratories (INRAE, Toulouse INP, IRD, CNRS, Paul-Sabatier and Jean-Jaurès universities…). Over three evenings, dozens of short and interactive conferences are offered in about twenty venues across the city, on topics as varied as neurosciences, chemistry, physics, health, Earth sciences, technologies, or human sciences.
The presentations, accessible to all and without prerequisites, allow ample room for exchanges and questions from the public. It's an opportunity to discuss science directly with those who create it, in a friendly setting.
The 2026 edition of Pint of Science in Toulouse will take place on the evenings of Monday, May 18 to Wednesday, May 20, 2026, as part of the 13th French edition of the international science popularization festival. The principle: researchers come to present their work in the city's bars and cafes, in a friendly atmosphere accessible to all.
From Monday, May 18 to Wednesday, May 20, 2026, Pint of Science returns to Toulouse for three evenings of science at the counter. This edition offers 37 conferences spread across 18 venues in the city (bars, cafes, and partner establishments), led by scientists from the University of Toulouse and its laboratories (INRAE, INP, IRD, CNRS, etc.).
The concept remains the same since its origin: to bring science out of intimidating laboratories and lecture halls to share it over a drink. Each evening, researchers present their work in the form of short, interactive talks, open to discussion with the public.
The topics covered span a wide range of disciplines: neurosciences and psychology ("The Wonders of the Mind"), chemistry, physics and astrophysics ("From Atoms to Galaxies"), life sciences and health ("Our Body"), Earth sciences ("Planet Earth"), technologies and computer science ("Star Tech"), and human sciences ("From Man to Civilizations").
In total, 37 conferences are offered in 18 venues in Toulouse over the three evenings. The complete program, evening by evening and bar by bar, as well as reservations, are available on the official website: pintofscience.fr/events/toulouse. Registrations open on April 13, 2026.
