Poetry takes over the entire Marne
The Printemps des Poètes is a national and international event created in 1999, which is celebrated each year throughout France. In the Marne, this event takes on a special dimension thanks to the mobilization of local cultural actors: municipal media libraries of Reims, university libraries of URCA, cultural centers, schools, and literary associations offer a rich and varied program around a theme renewed each year.
For more than two weeks, the Printemps des Poètes in the Marne offers a multitude of events: public readings, poetic writing workshops, voice performance shows, exhibitions, meetings with contemporary poets, poetry contests, and screenings. These events take place in the most diverse venues, from reading rooms to public squares, including cafes and gardens, bringing poetry to unexpected places.
Each edition of the Printemps des Poètes revolves around a theme chosen at the national level. In 2025, the theme was "Volcanic," exploring the eruptive force of poetry. In 2026, the 28th edition celebrates "Freedom. Living force, deployed," with actress Isabelle Adjani as its patron. These themes inspire the local programming and provide a common thread for the events organized in the Marne.
The success of the Printemps des Poètes in the Marne relies on the commitment of a broad network of partners: the Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs Grand Est, local authorities, the media libraries of the Reims network, the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, and numerous cultural associations. This collective mobilization makes it possible to reach a diverse audience and to spread poetry throughout the department.
The 28th edition of Printemps des Poètes takes place from March 14 to 31, 2026, around the theme "Freedom. Living force, deployed." Actress Isabelle Adjani is its patron. In the Marne, media libraries, libraries, and cultural venues offer a rich program of readings, workshops, and poetic encounters.
The events of the Printemps des Poètes take place in numerous locations throughout the Marne department, mainly in Reims. Municipal media libraries, the Falala Media Library, the Croix-Rouge Media Library, and university libraries are among the main venues. Consult the detailed program on the official website of the Printemps des Poètes.
The vast majority of events are free and open to all. Some performances may require booking.
The event generally takes place over two to three weeks in March. The complete program is available on the website printempsdespoetes.com and at the Reims media libraries. For information, contact the Falala Media Library at 03 26 35 68 00.
