Urban Cultures in the Spotlight

Created in 2021, the Rencontres Urbaines de Nancy (RUN) has quickly become the unmissable event for urban cultures in the Grand Est region. Organized by the City of Nancy and the Grand Nancy Metropolis, this multidisciplinary festival takes over cultural venues, squares, and streets of Nancy for about ten days to celebrate the richness and diversity of contemporary urban expressions.

A Hybrid and Bold Program

The RUN explores the notion of hybridity between disciplines, generations, and influences. The festival merges music, art, sport, fashion, dance, and gastronomy in a program that reflects the vitality of current urban cultures:

  • Visual Arts: exhibitions of graffiti, street art, urban photography, installations at the Musée des Beaux-Arts and in public spaces
  • Music: rap concerts, hip-hop, DJ sets, beatbox battles, and freestyle sessions
  • Dance: breakdance battles, hip-hop and contemporary dance demonstrations
  • Urban Sports: skateboarding, BMX, parkour, 3x3 basketball, and other street disciplines
  • Fashion and Design: streetwear fashion shows, customization workshops, sneaker exhibitions
  • Street Food: gastronomic village with food trucks and world cuisines

Major Exhibitions

Each edition hosts major exhibitions at the Musée des Beaux-Arts de Nancy and in other cultural venues in the city. In 2025, the exhibition "Aerosol, a History of Graffiti in France" traced four decades of French graffiti, while "Freeze" by artist Lor-K presented sculptural works made from salvaged mattresses.

Professional Meetings

The RUN is not limited to artistic programming: the festival organizes a day of professional meetings bringing together artists, professionals, and the public around the major issues of urban cultures. These exchange sessions contribute to structuring and valuing urban practices in the French cultural landscape.

Nancy, City of Urban Art

The Rencontres Urbaines de Nancy are part of the dynamic of Nancy as a city of urban art. The festival spreads across different neighborhoods of the city, creating bridges between cultural institutions and street culture, between renowned artists and emerging practices.
