Rire et Vilaine is a comedy festival organized annually at the end of January in Rennes and in several municipalities in Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). It offers comedy shows, stand-up, one-man-shows, and boulevard comedies with national and regional artists, as part of a tour across the department.
The particularity of Rire et Vilaine is its itinerant format: rather than focusing on a single venue, the festival stops in about a dozen municipalities in the department (Rennes, Pacé, Saint-Grégoire, Châteaugiron, Bain-de-Bretagne, Janzé…), bringing humor closer to residents, including in rural areas.
Each edition brings together established comedians and young talents discovered during a competition dedicated to the Comédie de Rennes. The program mixes imitation, stand-up, humorous songs, and boulevard theater, to satisfy all audiences.
The festival is organized by Coeur de Scène Productions. To find out the detailed program and booking procedures by municipality, consult the official website.
