Punk rock and alternative music festival in Aigrefeuille-sur-Maine
Rock en Maine is a punk rock and alternative music festival organized every October in Aigrefeuille-sur-Maine, in Loire-Atlantique. Created in 2012 by the association Festi'Maine, it offers an intense evening featuring five to seven bands on stage, in the friendly atmosphere of the Salle des Richardières. Driven by a hundred passionate volunteers, the festival champions an eclectic program mixing punk, rock, celtic punk, metal, and festive rock, with renowned bands from the French and European scene. Accessible and friendly, Rock en Maine has become a must-attend event for lovers of energetic music in the Nantes vineyard region.
Founded in 2012 by the association Festi'Maine, the Rock en Maine festival was born from the passion of a group of volunteers from Aigrefeuille-sur-Maine for punk rock and alternative music. What started as a local evening has become, over the editions, an anticipated musical event in Loire-Atlantique, attracting a loyal and growing audience each autumn at the Salle des Richardières, in the heart of this commune located between Nantes and Clisson, in the Nantes vineyard region.
The strength of Rock en Maine lies in its diverse and ambitious programming for an associative festival of this scale. Each edition brings together five to seven bands covering a wide spectrum of energetic music: punk rock, celtic punk, alternative rock, metal, ska-punk, festive rock, and acoustic rock'n'roll. Over the years, the festival has hosted notable names from the French and European scene: Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs, Tagada Jones, Les Sales Majestés, Pigalle, Les Garçons Bouchers, Los Tres Puntos, Guérilla Poubelle, Che Sudaka, Les 3 Fromages, Lion's Law, Opium du Peuple, Pipes and Pints, and many others.
Rock en Maine is a 100% associative festival, organized by the Festi'Maine association, which brings together about fifteen active members and mobilizes nearly a hundred volunteers on the day of the event. The association is not limited to the festival: it also organizes events throughout the year for all audiences, such as Halloween parties for children, book and record fairs, and has hosted the Festival Millefeuille for six editions. This local anchoring and community involvement make Rock en Maine a human-sized event, where friendliness and sharing take precedence over commercial logic.
The festival traditionally takes place on a Saturday evening in October, with doors opening in the late afternoon and concerts running late into the night. The formula is simple and effective: an accessible entrance fee (between 15 and 20 euros), on-site food and drink, and free entry for children under 14 accompanied by an adult. Credit card payment is accepted on site. This accessibility, combined with quality programming, allows Rock en Maine to attract a multigenerational audience, from long-time punk fans to families coming to discover the independent rock scene.
