Rue des Livres is Rennes' major literary festival, dedicated to books, reading, and writing. Each year, it brings together nearly 170 authors and illustrators and about sixty publishers, bookstores, and associations at Les Cadets de Bretagne for a weekend of meetings, signings, workshops, readings, and exhibitions, with free admission.

Rue des Livres is a literary festival held annually in Rennes, Ille-et-Vilaine (Brittany). Entirely free and open to all, it gathers nearly 170 authors and illustrators, as well as about sixty publishers, bookstores, and associations at Les Cadets de Bretagne, all centered around the joy of reading and writing.

A Long Weekend Dedicated to Books

The program combines meetings and round tables with authors, writing workshops, public readings, exhibitions, and shows. A significant focus is placed on youth, with spaces and activities dedicated to children and teenagers. Prior to the festival, authors also visit students in schools in Rennes and the department.

Two days of celebration around books, with free admission, featuring nearly 170 authors and illustrators and about sixty publishers, bookstores, and associations.

The 2026 edition of Rue des Livres, the 18th of the Rennes literary festival, took place on March 14 and 15, 2026, at Cadets de Bretagne, in Rennes (Ille-et-Vilaine), centered around the theme of friendship. Entirely free, the festival brought together nearly 170 authors and illustrators, as well as about sixty publishers, ten bookstores, and numerous associations.

On the program: about thirty meetings and round tables with authors, fourteen workshops (writing, philosophy, journalism), four exhibitions, two theatrical readings, and a rich youth program for children (0-12 years old) and teenagers. Prior to the event, nine authors and illustrators met with students in about twenty schools in Rennes and the department.
