About Storytelling Delights

Every autumn, Contes à Croquer brings together storytellers from across France and abroad in Beauvais, taking place across three venues in the city center and the Voisinlieu district. The Les Croquenotes et Faim d'Histoires association curates a program of performances for all ages—from toddlers to grandparents—alongside an open stage and workshops focused on the art of storytelling and music.

Storytelling Delights — edition 2026

For its fourth edition, the festival brings storytellers to Beauvais from Picardy, Brittany, Alsace, Quercy, Charente-Maritime, and Togo for a weekend dedicated to the spoken word, music, and imagination. The opening night on Friday, October 2nd, will bring to life female figures from Picardy's heritage, followed by two days of performances, amateur showcases, and workshops for all ages. The associations Les Croquenotes and Faim d'Histoires are also hosting two free preview sessions at the L'Inventorium bookstore on September 12th and 19th.

  • Saturday, September 19th, 6:00 PM — Free session, ages 8 and up

Friday, October 2nd

  • 7:30 PM — Opening night: Stories of women from Picardy's heritage, by Jean-Marie François · free admission, donations welcome

Saturday, October 3rd

  • 10:00 AM — "Dans mon poulailler" (In my henhouse), storytelling for toddlers, by Évelyne Denis (ages 18 months-3 years)
  • 11:00 AM — Amateur stage, short stories (ages 3-7)
  • 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM — Three consecutive shows · Auditorium Rostropovitch · €4 per show
  • 7:15 PM — Sklaeren, Breton improvisational storyteller

Sunday, October 4th

  • 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM — African storytelling workshops with Mario Attidokpo (Togo)
  • 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM — Four consecutive shows · Auditorium Rostropovitch
  • 5:30 PM — Closing ceremony with Michel Galaret (Quercy)

Practical information — Storytelling Delights

The festival takes place at three locations in Beauvais: the Auditorium Rostropovitch, the Malice social center (Saint-Lucien district), and the Georges-Desmarquest social center (Voisinlieu district).
