Medieval festival on the heights of Dijon, in the time of the Dukes of Burgundy
Perched on its hill overlooking Dijon, the town of Talant was founded in 1208 by Duke Eudes III de Bourgogne as a stronghold and new town. Every year in June, Talant à l'Heure Médiévale invites visitors to travel back in time to discover daily life, arts, and crafts of the Middle Ages in an authentic historical setting.
The program includes participatory workshops for all ages: calligraphy, illumination, candle making, archery, coin minting. Medieval shows — jugglers, musicians, storytellers, and street theater troupes — liven up the squares and streets of the old town. Medieval craft demonstrations (blacksmithing, leatherworking, spinning) and historical presentations complete the entertainment.
Medieval cuisine stands offer revisited period specialties. The event is also an opportunity to discover the architectural heritage of Talant: remains of the ducal castle, the 13th-century Notre-Dame church, and the narrow streets of the old town. The festival is organized in partnership with the Talant town hall and local associations.
Talant à l'Heure Médiévale 2026 will take place on June 6th and 7th in the historic center of Talant. Detailed program to come.
