Amateur theatre festival at Théâtre des Jacobins de Dinan
The Théâtre en Rance Festival is an annual event dedicated to amateur theatre, organized by the Théâtre en Rance association at the Théâtre des Jacobins in Dinan. Every year at the end of May, for four days, amateur theatre groups from the Dinan region, Brittany, and beyond take over the Jacobins stage to present their shows — comedies, dramas, original creations, adaptations of classic or contemporary texts.
The festival is not limited to performances: it is also a place for meeting and exchange between companies and the public. Discussions after the shows, workshops, and informal gatherings allow amateur actors to share their passion and receive feedback from spectators and other groups. This human and friendly dimension is at the heart of the festival's identity.
The Théâtre en Rance association works throughout the year to develop theatrical practices in the Dinan region. Beyond the festival, it offers a cultural season at the Théâtre des Jacobins, a young audience program “Les Jacobambins”, the street festival Les Renc'Arts, and the early childhood festival Premiers Émois. The Théâtre des Jacobins, located at 6 rue de l'Horloge in Dinan, is the heart of this vibrant activity.
The Théâtre en Rance Festival is expected to return at the end of May 2026 at the Théâtre des Jacobins in Dinan for a new edition dedicated to amateur theatre. Dates and program will be announced on www.theatre-en-rance.com.
