About Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande
The Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande is an annual trail running event organized by the Entente Athlétique du Pays de Brocéliande, starting from the Trémelin leisure base in Iffendic (Ille-et-Vilaine). The routes wind through the Brocéliande forest and along the shores of Lac de Trémelin, with distances ranging from 9 km to 54 km, all named after Arthurian legends. The 2026 edition, held on September 12th and 13th, marks the event's 20th anniversary.
Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande — edition 2026
The Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande celebrates its 20th anniversary on Saturday, September 12 and Sunday, September 13, 2026, starting from the Trémelin leisure center in Iffendic (Ille-et-Vilaine). Six races from 9 to 54 km are on the program, complemented by three "Challenge" formats that combine two distances. The 100 km Ultra des Légendes, created for the anniversary, has been cancelled by the National Forestry Office (ONF).
2026 Edition — The 20th Anniversary
For its 20th anniversary, the Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande will take place on September 12 and 13, 2026, at the Trémelin estate in Iffendic. Starts and finishes are located by the lake, near the sailing and nature center.
La Boucle de Viviane kicks off the weekend on Saturday evening: 12 km, starting at 5:30 PM. On Sunday, five starts are staggered from 7:45 AM for L'Excalibur (54 km) to 10:00 AM for Arthur (9 km), with La Dame du Lac (42 km), Le Graal (26 km), and Merlin (14 km) in between.
Ultra des Légendes Cancelled
A 100 km ultra-trail with 2,000m of elevation gain was created for the anniversary, with a 1:00 AM start and a 4:00 PM cutoff. The National Forestry Office informed the organizers that a night race was not feasible in order to protect wildlife rest periods: the event has been cancelled. All other races will proceed as planned.
Registration
Registration opened on April 4, 2026, for FFA license holders, and from April 11 to 13 for everyone else via Klikego. Registration closes on Friday, September 4, 2026. By mid-August, the organizers announced that almost all races were sold out: bibs remain for the L'Excalibur relay, the Super Défi, and the youth Ouest Trail Tour (cadet/junior), and the bib exchange is open on Klikego.

- 1:00 AM — L'Ultra des Légendes, 100 km (2,000m elevation gain): cancelled. The route was planned to pass through Montfort-sur-Meu, Saint-Thurial, and Monterfil, via the Montfort forest, La Cossinade, the Serein valley, La Chambre au Loup, and the quarry, with a 4:00 PM cutoff. 300 bibs, €60.

The Challenges
Three formats combine Saturday's La Boucle de Viviane with a Sunday race, each limited to 60 bibs:
- Super Défi — La Boucle de Viviane + L'Excalibur, 12 + 54 km · €45
- Grand Défi — La Boucle de Viviane + Le Graal, 12 + 26 km · €35
- Petit Défi — La Boucle de Viviane + Merlin, 12 + 14 km · €25
Good to know
- All starts and finishes take place at the Trémelin estate in Iffendic throughout the weekend.
- There are conflicting times for the Excalibur start: 7:45 AM on the race page, the 2026 regulations, and Klikego; 8:00 AM on the official website's "Challenges" page; and 7:30 AM on the Saint-Gonlay town hall calendar. 7:45 AM is the time used here.
- The 2026 regulations open La Boucle de Viviane, Merlin, and Arthur to athletes born in 2011 or earlier, and other events to those born in 2007 or earlier. The Klikego page lists different birth years (2009 for Merlin, 2006 for long-distance events).
- A 2026-2027 FFA license or PPS (Health Prevention Course) is mandatory and must be uploaded to the Klikego runner portal by September 9, 2026, at the latest.
- Routes are published a few days before the race to protect the private properties crossed.
- Awards are given to the top 5 men and women overall in L'Excalibur, La Dame du Lac, and Le Graal; the top 3 men and women overall in Merlin, Arthur, and La Boucle de Viviane; the top 3 cadets and juniors in those same three races; and the top 3 men and women in each Challenge.

These are the rates from the 2026 regulations. The amounts shown on Klikego are slightly higher: €47.20 for the Excalibur relay and the Super Défi, €15.20 for Merlin, €11 for Arthur.
Registration closes on Friday, September 4, 2026, subject to bib availability (12:00 PM according to regulations, 8:00 PM according to Klikego). As of mid-August 2026, almost all races are sold out and are only accessible via the Klikego bib exchange, with a €5 resale fee charged to the seller, which is donated to the charities supported by the organization.

Please bring the QR code received via email upon registration to collect your bib. Every runner will receive a souvenir gift.
On the Course
No cups will be provided at aid stations: all runners must carry their own hydration gear (flasks, bottles, or hydration packs). Carrying 0.5 L of water is recommended for the Excalibur, La Dame du Lac, and Le Graal races. Outside assistance is only permitted within designated aid zones. Poles are allowed for the Excalibur, La Dame du Lac, Le Graal, and Merlin races. Full refreshments are provided at the finish line. Please note that some sections of the course cross private property, which is opened specifically for this event.

The Trail des Légendes de Brocéliande
Organized by the Entente Athlétique du Pays de Brocéliande (EAPB), the Trail des Légendes starts at the Trémelin leisure base in Iffendic, Ille-et-Vilaine. The courses follow the trails of the Brocéliande forest and run alongside Lac de Trémelin. Depending on the distance, runners pass through the Chambre au Loup valley—a protected natural area—the Serein valley via the GR37 trail, the Étunel pond, the old Valet stone quarry, and the motocross mounds.
The Races
- Arthur — 9 km, 100 m elevation gain: a forest loop around Lac de Trémelin.
- La Boucle de Viviane — 12 km, 200 m elevation gain: a Saturday evening trail run.
- Merlin — 14 km, 300 m elevation gain: passes through an old stone quarry.
- Le Graal — 26 km, 700 m elevation gain: includes the Chambre au Loup valley and the motocross mounds.
- La Dame du Lac — 42 km, 1,000 m elevation gain: a shortened version of the Excalibur route.
- L'Excalibur — 54 km, 1,300 m elevation gain: available as a solo run or a two-person relay, with the hand-off at the 26 km mark in Saint-Péran.
Three "Challenge" formats combine Saturday's La Boucle de Viviane with a Sunday race. The Excalibur, Le Graal, and Merlin races count toward the Ouest Trail Tour challenge.
Registration
Registration is available online via Klikego. A valid FFA license or a PPS (Parcours Prévention Santé, which can be generated at pps.athle.fr) is mandatory and must be uploaded to your runner profile before the deadline set by the organizers.
