Trail des Moulins: Running in the heart of the Cisse Valley
Since 2004, the Trail des Moulins has invited runners to discover the Cisse Valley, a preserved natural gem between Blois and Chambord. Organized by the association Courir en Val de Cisse 41 (CVC 41), this sporting event has become a must-see on the trail running calendar in Loir-et-Cher, bringing together hundreds of runners each year in the Parc du Moulin des Charmes in Molineuf.
Nature courses between mills and forests
The Trail des Moulins gets its name from the old mills that dot the Cisse valley, a tributary of the Loire River. The courses follow forest paths, towpaths, undergrowth passages, and technical climbs that make this event so charming. The natural setting, with its fields, woods, and hamlets, offers a varied and challenging terrain.
Distances and elevation gains
The event offers four race formats:
- 33 km: the major challenge, with 685 m of positive elevation gain, for experienced trail runners
- 15 km: an intermediate trail with 255 m of elevation gain, accessible to regular runners
- 9 km: a discovery course with 160 m of elevation gain, ideal for trail running beginners
- 5 km popular race: a race open to all, without ranking
Children's races are also organized for the youngest, over distances adapted to each age group.
The Nocturne des Moulins
In addition to the spring event, the Trail des Moulins offers a Night Race in the autumn (November), a night race in the Cisse valley that adds an extra dimension to the adventure. With a mandatory headlamp, runners discover the trails in a completely different light, in a unique and friendly atmosphere.
A friendly and community-driven event
Driven by the volunteers of CVC 41, the Trail des Moulins cultivates a friendly and family-oriented spirit. Delicious aid stations, podiums, entertainment, and on-site catering make each edition a celebration of sport and nature. The event contributes to the valorization of the natural heritage of the Cisse valley and the sporting dynamism of Loir-et-Cher.
